Consider me thick, but what exactly are we suposed to see here? I can produce the video with both running on iOS 4.33 with exact same results... Actualy it looks to me that there is less of the performance difference between the two on iOS 5 than it is on iOS 4...

That's the point silly goose!
The old 3GS runs the new-feature-loaded iOS 5 as well as the iPhone 4 with a much more powerful A4 processor and twice the RAM.
Considering what iOS4 did to iPhone 3G users (made their device terribly slow and almost unusable) this is excellent news for many people!
....except iPhone 3G users :(
