I love my tenori, however the sounds on it were always a little too blippy for my liking, although it does have MIDI so connecting it up to a sound module is pretty simple. This is quite an early video, the firmware was updated a while back to give some basic swing to the timing as well as a few other bits...worth knowing about the Advanced Mode too, which means you can set the layers to be whatever you want - such as 16 random layers for total noise/generative effect.
It's a long-neglected piece of kit though, shame Yamaha seem to have forgotten about it as well.
I love mine too, it's so limited it makes you work and think, and it's portability is a big plus for me. Yamaha has a history of making very good but underrated and forgotten gear. My rx5 was 50,- and a beast of a drum machine yet no one likes it
It is a beautiful piece of kit and the iPad could never be as tactile and texurally enjoyable, however for the money one would spend on the tenori, I would look to software on the iPad for this type of music creation.

I've been quite happy with Aurora Studio hd on my iPad. I always want a tenor but the price killed it for me.
Blasted auto spell!
I got mine through trading gear,
that way its almost like it doesnt cost money :)
And since it release it's value has been pretty stable,
what will the Ipad be worth ten or fifteen years from now?
