Thanks to Freesoul for sending me a link to this video.
The Korg iMS-20 is a great synth for the Apple iPad. This video shows how to control this synth with a guitar by using the Sonuus i2M musicport.
The Sonuus i2M musicport converts guitars and other musical instruments to MIDI with very low latency. Being a standard USB MIDI device, it works with the iPad using the iPad camera connection kit.
I believe it also acts as a regular USB audio interface as well so you can have midi or audio.
Read one review stating the user was able to seamlessly switch between "virtual instruments" and guitar amp models without having to do anything special. Just play on one track and move to the next. It will convert to midi or just record your guitar through amp. Use apps like GarageBand for iPad or other DAW of choice.
I'm not saying the You Rock Guitar is bad, its actually really good, but in Canada its 250$, and even if I get it shipped from Europe its going to cost me over 200$

Very cool device for reasonable cost.
The tracking is really great, and it does velocity and pitch bends!!.. The only thing missing is polyphony, but heck for 100$ its not a problem :)
That does it .... I have so got to get better at my guitar playing!
It's old vid.
Better check out You Rock Guitar.
It works great with ipad usb.
It's almost same price as Sonuus.

Erm.. more like twice the price of the Sonuus. The You Rock Guitar is 250$.

If you check in europe at thomann.de for example YRG is 144 euro while sonuus i2m is 149 euro.
and Sonuus is mono and got serious latency (checkout specs on their page E2 got 17ms latency)
In general audio to midi interfaces are erratic.
I got yamaha g50 midi converter with poly pickup and it wasnt too usefull.
YRG has no latency at all and great sensivity.

.. one day ... :)
Also pricey, but working, is the Squier Rock Band 3 Strat. Good fun! But for $150 the i2M is pretty good value.
