"Apple-hater conspiracy wind up. There's loads of them out there!"
True, but mostly because there's a lot of crap from Apple we have to put up with, like :
Apple sells CCK so we can read from USB keys, but the CCK doesn't let you see the files on your USB key, only pictures, and they must not be in a sub-sub-directory..
The CCK should've been called MCK for Music/Midi Connection Kit, how much people uses the CCK for pictures?
Found the CCK very convient on vacation with my camera to make my friends at home envy me so it was worth every cent for that alone. Have not used it for a usb keyboard but will at some point.
As far as the tv connector I have used it for making a nicer connection to my daw when recording in stereo.
I never used it for rented movies from iTune so can vouch for it not working, but the TV adapter works with Netflicks, Hulu, Flickstream, Movie Vault, PBS and Kung-Fu (movie app) to show on the tv fine in the US. So it has enhanced my entertainment life after the signal went digital and my coat hanger antenna did not bring in any movies.
It has indeed been disabled on the IPhone, not in the iPad. It worked perfectly on the iPhone until beta 6. Now it's back to where we were: no USB audio on the iPhone. I still hope it will make it into the final release.

Yes, well, given that Apple went and notched the available voltage down via the dock rendering dozens of USB devices useless without any rhyme or reason from the company as to why, it's not that much of a surprise.
Apple also decided to unilaterally change the rotation lock switch to a mute switch, also without rhyme or reason.
Apple also suddenly decided that it would start asking for 30% of any in-app subscription.
It might be rumor mongering from Apple haters and rumors are best ignored but, after so many metaphorical burns from Apple, it's not something that sounds so far fetched, either.
Yours truly, just for context, has been (and remains) an Apple customer for the last 23 years.
That would be a very bad move. Maybe it makes sense from Apple's perspective but they surely know how to turn a happy customer (I love my iPod touch and don't see any other device offering the same features for music making to date)into a hater(my device is less than 2 year old and will probably not survive the second next OS upgrade...). I was very happy to have the CCK and I hope it will return in the final release.

I Updated to the latest iOS 5 V7 for iPad yesterday, and i can confirm that it's still working.
I am using the Korg NanoKey 2 and the CCK to test this and with NanoStudio and some others it still works.
Sounds like another Apple-hater conspiracy wind up. There's loads of them out there! :)

They sell you a ipad-to-tv connector, but every protected videos won't play, which is pretty much every video they sell in the itunes store :D

Yeah, the anon whiner above wants to blame Apple for Hollywood's DRM requirements. Use the Digital A/V adapter to output to HDMI and quit complainin'!

The CCK was designed for the ipad, its not supposed to be working on the iphone or ipod touch.
Yes, confirmed here that the CCK is disabled on iOS5 beta 7. what a shame.
