dbAudio - Easy Music Creation for iPhone & iPod Touch

I saw this the other day and wondered about posting it. In the end I decided I should, but I am somewhat skeptical over this app. It might be great, and the description below seems to suggest it can do a lot, but I'm not sure as yet.

Seriously... This looks way too much like Nanostudio..

Those guys didn't even made the effort to use different colors.

ahem! cough cough splutter.....!

Oh I suppose the best is going to be copied. First Beatmaker then this...monstros..ahem dbAudio.... tut-tut!

Was making 8-bit drum and bass on my iPad with Nanostudio this morn while sitting in my dentist's waiting room. Shame I didn't sample any drills though :( Next time perhaps? ^_^ ;)

Yes, you can then call it "8 (drill) bit D&B"!

No "No.8 Drill Bit D&B"!!!

or "HSS Drill & Bass"??

Tom's special 'anaesthetic' mix ;)

Total NS rip off .... I wonder if the "db" means something else instead of decibles

SO lame.

the app is terrible- I bought the AudioStudio for 2.00 thinking it would be somewhat decent- it was terrible. 3 days later they make this crap.

It's not a NS rip- its extremely limited and much more like the other 99 cent DJ Pad sampler apps.

sad really- people will be deceived. the loops are horrible

Hmm... the marketing behind this is all rather (very) cynical then? Make an app that looks like the worlds no.1 DAW app, throw some cheap samples being the pads, hype it up a load in the press release, then flog it to those who have seen a window from NS, but can't remember what that awesome app their mates were using was called?

Hurrah for the Palm Sounds blog then, for cutting through the BS!

Unfortunately I think we're going to encounter a lot more behaviour like this (a bit like that cynical trick, 'viral marketing', so beloved my many a marketing company of yesteryear?).

for the record:

I've been taught to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and don't believe that the intent was to manipulate people into purchasing.

Building quality audio apps on iOS now is very difficult despite the plethora of API's available and there are so many different dynamics that can be compared- I would hate for my labor of love to be shat all over because of the broad comparisons that can be made.

Having said all that- please keep in mind that this does NOT make the app any better or excuse the straight hideousness of it. Also the time of the release of this app and the audio studio is highly suspect.
