BM2 specs but a release before Christmas? I don't think so

Thanks to the people who pointed this out to me in emails and sorry it took so long to post. If you haven't seen it as yet then these are the details of BM2 from Intua. I can't see how they could get this out before Christmas as I've heard from other developers that the iTunes back end for devs is now closed for a few days so price changes and releases stop from today for a few days.

Anyway, hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see this for real. Here are the details:

  • Each instrument can be enhanced with 3 insert effects.
  • Create additional effect busses with 3 other insert effects to group your instrument outputs.
  • 10 effect units available : Autopan, Bitcrusher, Chorus, Compressor, Delay, Overdrive, Equalizer, Flanger, Filter, Reverb

Sounds good on paper!... Intua itself and forum regulars still suck!

looks nice - the chopping functions are the one thing that, IMO, kept BeatMaker in the game after NanoStudio dropped. Will be interested to see what happens with BM2!

Wow, that still hasn't been released!?!! Nanostudio is the business anyway. I have to agree with the first post, that forum is a terrible place to visit most times and intua hasn't updated bm1 in like a year+.

Well worth waiting for. Look at that list of features! I like Nanostudio but the drum side of things- including the part editing side, I felt was a bit of a letdown (I have been spoilt slightly- having owned, and still own, a yamaha ry30, so having to audio paste sounds from another iapp within my iPhone is beginning to become a bit of a chore). I think blipinteractive will have to stay on top by doing a complete redesign on the existing app, but it will be worth it.

I don't understand why developers put effort into this multisample stuff - how many people are really going to sit there on an iphone meticulously constructing their own multisampled cello?

Probably most people's use of this is going to start and end with whatever multisamples are in the presets.

I'd rather see more creative approaches to sampling - granular synthesis, flexible looping, envelopes, efficient resampling, more banks...

Unlimited tracks sound nice... But how Many before you can fry an egg on the iPad?

NOT Universal for the iPad? Double FAIL.

You'd be surprised. The problem with the output of the iPhone (and it was also the same with the Palm), is that it's quality is so good, that it is difficult to differentiate between a PDA device and a fully blown PC workstation. Therefore there is a tenancy for anything made on a PDA to sound cheap. I think multi-sampling is a great addition, and it's something I already miss on Nanostudio.

I do though agree with the lousy attitude on the BM forum. Blipinteractive certainly have the edge here, which means that the next Nanostudio update really will be worth holding on for. :)

@Beat

from the post you are responding to:
"Native iPad version coming soon as a free update"

Not reading the complete post, yet commenting on it twice? Triple FAIL.

Am I reading this incorrectly, or does this sentence contradict itself? Please rephrase.
