Interesting to see some dedicated mobile hardware arriving at NAMM soon. Gearwire has the full details on the new device.

Interested to see where this one goes - the specs are more or less on par with an iPad, but I'll be interested to see whether people are cool with a device with less functionality (i.e. no apps). I guess the trade-off is the tactile controls and dedicated audio functionality - no having to work around the iPad's I/O limitations.

A well designed device doesn't need apps, it can already do everything that you need to do.

Also DJ's still prefer to use real dj gear like this : http://radiofacts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/m-audio-torq-dj-controller.jpg

This thing beats every apps out there, and it is still cheaper than one ipad. And there's also devices like that one which doesn't even require a computer.

Boy the Synthtopia forum crew is HARSH on this idea. They seem a little snobbish, and not very forward-thinking. I reckon they were calling the iPad a "joke" and a "toy", too... until they got a load of what it can do.

Comments like that seem a little too.... ummm, narrow-minded to be artistic, no?

It's like the kind of reaction that Bob Moog was met with, just before he changed the face of music!!
