Konkreet Performer arrives
Another long awaited app arrives in the store at long last!
PERFORMER is a music control and performance instrument, designed with two aims: one, a controller that utilises multitouch technology to the full; no faders and knobs, instead an intuitive control of software instruments on your computer, via manipulation of abstract objects on your multitouch device. And two, an instrument for electronic music performance that aims to be visually shared with the audience, to create a live show that is indeed alive!
PERFORMER is a controller. It does not generate sound by itself.
Performer is priced at $24.99

Not the slightest indication or button or manual or anything that might suggest how the contraption works. My index is sore from trying to get info out of this " incredible" app i just payed for.
All right; double tap on the upper right hand square...
Am still in the dark trying to connect to Live...
Was so excited when I first read about this mysterious and great-looking app, 4 months or so ago. Now it's finally here, the information is meagre, to say the least. The homepage is not very detailed and the 'connecting performer' page just talks about TouchOsc, which only works for Mac. I don't get why app-makers so often miss out on presenting the final product with good info and a downloadble PDF-manual. Especially for an app that has taken such a long time to finish and that's so expensive. This doesn't make a good impression on me. Will let this one go.
Would be nice to see more apps move beyond the knob, slider, 2D kaoss pad paradigm. I realize that's easier said than done, though...
From the website it looks like you could control hardware MIDI devices using a PC and Osculator....presumably this might also work using The Missing Link too?
Brian - feel free to contact us directly at info@konkreetlabs.com or post on our forum with any questions at all. The connectivity/setting up process can be tricky first time round, and if there's key information missing from our website Performer page, just let us know...
P - Our concept was always to make Performer as intuitive as possible, so that no manual is ever needed. Having said that, you are right, there's a lot of info that could be added for the "outside the iPad" part - e.g. we will put up info for Windows users for an OSCulator alternative. If there's additional key information that you feel is missing, also please feel free to get in touch with us directly. We'd love to have you on board!

The information is a little better now, but I still think a good, clear PDF manual should be available. You want to really see what it does before you buy such an expensive app. The competition is really hardening now, so much interesting high-profile, high-price stuff coming out, with beatmaker 2, synth x, the new AKAI app, the Fairlight app and more around the corner. Konkreet Performer is in like the top 2% price-wise of music apps, it really has to convince of it's uniqueness to sell. Or lower the price. Just IMHO.
