I'd like to take this opportunity to avoid using the phrase 'iPad killer' as I just don't think it is helpful.
Like Synthtopia's piece on the new Xoom from Motorola, I don't think we really know what Android 3 can do for music making with a tablet based device, and I don't know if Google are even thinking about music creation with their OS. On the other hand the mere fact that Apple put CoreMIDI into the iOS suggests that they know the iPad has massive creative potential.
I really want Android to succeed and from what I've seen so far the new batch of tablets are going to have a lot of good things going for them, so I'm hoping, really hoping.

I don't believe there will be many good audio apps for android for a while, if ever. I for one, don't want to develop apps for android because of the fragmentation issues. Developing an app for a platform with such an array of devices, (most of which will never have manufacture supported OS updates) seems like a huge waste of time IMHO. For music makers I think it's been the same formula for the past 10 years, if you wanted to produce music within the past 10 years everyone heavily involved in music production will tell you to buy a Mac. This is mirrored in iOS also. I have some favorite apps on other mobile devices other than iOS, but comparing 1 app I like on my palm device, 3 for my ds lite, 3 for windows mobile,.. to my 50 or so in iOS, it's really a no brainer. The rate at which android audio apps being created is exponentially slower, I would expect to see similar numbers coming out of palm or blackberry than android. Primarily because palm and blackberry developers make apps for a few set number of devices, who even knows right now how many devices exist in the android ecosphere (I would guess hundreds).
