Another company offering an 'app store' type approach. This time Dataviz have creatred their App Shop, (as opposed to store) which covers a variety of platforms.

Here's a mini-review of the NanoPad from Robman84:
Well, the nanopad is fantastic and such good value. I've got it pretty much permanently dedicated to Virtual DJ at the moment. It sits in front of my mixer and I've set it so you use two pads to cycle up and down the effects then as soon as you press the XY pad the effect is triggered and the parameters are controlled by the XY pad, with the remaining buttons mapped to the effect buttons for the selected effect.
The obvious main use for this is things like triggering and modifying a low pass filter as well as an autocut, flanger and delay. I suppose in one sense a poor man's Kaoss pad, but in another sense, a more flexible Kaoss pad!
I tried hooking it up to the Loox 720 to see if it would act as an HID compliant device. Whilst the Loox recognised it, I couldn't fudge any drivers to make it install.
It is also a fun device for bashing out drum beats although the flam and drum roll options are a bit gimmicky IMHO. I've configured it to work with DR008 as a VSTi and it is really rather nice.
I was interested that the Loox 720 recognised the nanopad but couldn't use it. That's a shame as it would be so cool to be able to use hardware like this with software like Griff, MeTeoR, Mixtikl etc.
If anyone knows of ways to do this please do get in touch and share your experience.

More Mixtikl on the train today (in to work late). You can get some really interesting combinations of effects by chaining things together in the FX network editor. Mixtikl is a very powerful and deep application, it feels like however deep you go there's always more settings and controls to use.
What I find really interesting is getting to grips with the workflow of different applications to see how they've been put together. I think it gives you an insight into how the developer thinks through these concepts.
Gamasalad have updated their site today with their roadmap. This now includes the iphone element of their game development platform, and also marketplace where vendors can sell music and graphics to game developers.
LittleCodeShop's new app "4 Tracks DX Pocket Studio", is now available on the app store. I'll write a bit more when I've had a chance to take a look at this.

According to Moo Cow Music, Pianist is to get an 'extreme makeover' ...
Pianist received an extreme makeover in a free update submitted to Apple today. The user-interface has been redesigned to allow quick access to both the Recorder (to remove unwanted notes) and Setup screens, the metronome tempo can now be set by tapping in time to an external rhythm, and the application logo has been updated.

Pierre's story seems like mine! I'have been playng (real) electronic gear since early '80s, then Cubase 1 on '87 (the pc was a 386! only midi, but using a sound canvas pcmcia), and later hundreds of VSTis...finally I bought an IPAQ for a few euros (40). Thanks to Griff+Syntrax+Milkytracker, I succeeded in playing my music in the real world, and not, as always before, in my aseptic studio. Your reviews, your blog, definitely focused my attention on mobile music... During the last 2 years I have been experimenting many of that solutions (PMA-5, palm/bahjis, wm5/meteor, sunvox, kaossilator, korg ds-10 and other homebrew soft etc.)! Today's experimentation with Mixtikl was centered around FX. The FX app in the Mixtikl suite is called Partikl. Partikl lets you build complex combinations of FX and change their parameters at a very detailed level.
To be honest, this is something quite unique in terms of mobile apps. Today I played with using a delay followed by a reverb on a drum track. I added a chorus after the reverb and by changing a few controls I got a really interesting sound out the FX.
Of course, you can do this on each channel of your mix, but I'd expect that this might take a lot of CPU if you did it.
Hopefully more Partikl experiments tomorrow, and I plan to get a short video together of Partikl in action to show what I mean.
