IK Multimedia Announce new products at CES

Echo Pad - Tutorial - Recording loops with Audiobus

How to record loops in Echo Pad. Audiobus apps are used as the input source in this video, but the methods are the same for recording from the microphone or audio interface.

Holderness Media publish their roadmap for their excellent Echo Pad app. Here it is:

Echo Pad Roadmap: I thought users might appreciate a short term roadmap for Echo Pad to get an idea of what's in the works for the next few updates. These features are currently being worked on and will be coming soon in the next 1-2 updates. Current ETA for these updates is roughly 2-8 weeks.

SpheroSampler is a unique sampler that records and plays audio using two touch controlled 3D spheres. It has a simple but effective synth that is played using an XY pad, and also records through the mic. You can also use an adapter to plug in a mic or even your guitar. I really like the whole concept of this app, especially the way you can record and play back at any speed, both forward and reverse. You can create variation in the speed, and constantly direct the play head to new places on the recording. This is a free app, with a $0.99 in-app purchase for saving and exporting recorded and mixed wav files through iTunes. At first I was disappointed that only iTunes exporting was offered, but soon heard back from the developer that Audio Copy & Paste will be supported in the next update. I've really enjoyed using this app and love the endless creative possibilities it offers. It's great to see new concepts for sampling like this, and with Audio Copy & Paste coming soon.

Producer Tools, the new mobile app for electronic music production from developers Quadrophone & raaza, is now available for download from the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The app's comprehensive set of tools allows music producers to quickly perform calculations and look up musical reference information without interrupting their workflow. Producer Tools is designed to take care of the tedious parts of making music, leaving musicians free to focus on creativity.

Producer Tools incorporates five functions, each designed for the needs of electronic music producers: a delay calculator, a chord finder, a frequency translator, an equalization guide, and a harmonic mixing wheel. All of the app's features are optimized for making music in a digital audio workstation: the chord finder automatically translates flat notes to MIDI-friendly sharps, for example, and the delay calculator converts note lengths to both milliseconds and Hertz. The categorized equalization guide includes "cheat sheets" for equalizing essential elements of electronic dance music, including lead and pad synths, basslines, and kick drums.

The app is downloadable for $1.99 US from the App Store and Google Play (a 10-day free trial version is available for the Android version). Producer Tools requires at least iOS 4.3 or Android 2.2 to run.

iPad Music Apps are improving fast. Now you can do almost everything using only one device. In this Jam I'm playing with Geo Synthesizer controlling iMS-20 (Lead) and Magellan (Synth Bass and ARP). The arp was programed in Magellan but played by Moog Slim Phatty (using the iRig MIDI interface). Drums by GarageBand.

MIDI Bridge was used for splitting notes played with geo synth for Magellan and iMS-20.

The good news is that there are optimizations for the Nexus 7. However, apparently there were some issues that have now been addressed in release 15.

Not a long wait for this iPad sequencer, and a lot to look forward to with it too. Here's the app's description:
