@michael i'd say you're in the minority of electronic musicians if you're not so interested in having control over the sound.
Constraints are good as long as they're along the dimensions you want. Of course this is a very personal preference, in some ways an individual's choice of constraints is determined by their identity/style. For me, a rompler doesn't quite cut it.
