Been playing with it for a few hours and absolutely love the retro nostalgia. Great sounds and one of the best looking apps I've seen. Superbly rendered switches, dials, knobs and pulsing 'leds' Highly recommended!
the GUI is great but the apps is very limited for a 2011 apps
it needs an update and a big one (sonoma pasteboard, more fx, more mixer routing, add sample user, a more complex sound engine to tweak the samples, 32 step at least, various grid resolution for each step track).
I agree, very good looking, intuitive and great sounds. But ACP and various grid resolution for each track would be so great. And a swing slider or an offset button (per track) as well. Also flam, ability to send just certain drums to FX, and import user samples. Then this will be THE drum machine app.
I don't know if you guys know this but if you slide your finger on the led strip that counts of the steps it will shorten the step length down to one step. This is a great way to add flames and generally glitch up the sound a bit. Play withit live and you can get some great sounds.
If you set up a pattern with just 2 steps it can have the same effect but automated. I love this drum machine and I think it has some of the best sounding custom kits I've come across. I know this app will just get better. Now all we need is the 76 synth!

Are there any straight up rock kits to this?

Aren't apps limited by definition? I don't see apps as full blown software, apps are just small programs designed to do simple things.
But I'm sure there will be more fx and features in future updates.

I'm liking this a lot and really counting on the developers promise of audio/copy export and samples import.

My biggest add on would be to allow different kits assigned to each pattern. That way I can go from an 808 to a 'real sounds' kit within 2 bars.
