Our sources are saying that not only will there be a newly designed iPhone coming in the fall, but there is going to be a new entry into the iPad family as well. As hard as it might be to believe, the new tablet is said to sport a double resolution screen (2048 x 1536), and will be dubbed the "iPad HD." The idea behind the product is apparently that it will be a "pro" device aimed at a higher end market - folks who work in video and photo production possibly - and will be introduced alongside something like an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. This product is specifically said to not be the iPad 3, rather a complimentary piece of the iPad 2 line. Think MacBook and MacBook Pro.
I can get the whole iPad / iPad Pro idea, but instead of Aperture or FCP I'd like to see Logic. Now that would shake things up a bit!

The new ipad might have a higher resolution, but I doubt Apple would fragment their ecosystem just like that by launching
a more powerful ipads with apps that would not be compatible with the lower end ipads.
And I sincerely hope "Pro" here doesn't mean something like the latest version of Final Cut Pro, which had its features reduced to the point people are calling it Imovie Pro..
Rats and I just bought an iPad 2. Idunno though, as the new final cut pro shows, the pro market is a pretty low priority for apple...
I'm a bit excited by this, read on daring fireball months back that a new ipad would come out in september, with a higher res screen. Altho to be fair apple speculation is rife online, but to me it makes sense, I could imagine apple wanting to be the first to bring out a higher res display for tablets.
Also the way which the ipad has caught on with creative people and all the creative apps on the app store it would make sense for a more capable ipad, would be good for gamers too, a massive segment of ipad user's. I hope if this pans out a few features from osx make there way over too as well as logic.
