We've had Rebirth and the iElectribe, but what classic synth or drum machine or other music making hardware (or software for that matter) would you want to emulated in an app (iPhone / iPad or Android).

As for me, I'd love to see a faithful EDP Wasp reconstruction.
Lately, though, I've been on the lookout for some kind of app that emulates a King Capitol Punishment Sleepdrone5...a knob-controlled four-oscillator (!) drone machine. Shouldn't be too hard on an iPhone.
Too bad the developers are a bunch of pretentious jackasses who charge insane prices ($600+), rarely update, can't be bothered with a plug-in bridge or Rewire to work with other music progs, and completely refuse to develop for anything other than vanilla desktop OSX.
Sooooo... yea.
Other than that, a true advanced multi-sampler that loads .sf2, .gig, .sfz, etc. + multi-track sequencer to go along with that would be boss.
The possibilities are limitless when considering the low technical spec of a lot of classic gear. Akai could easily replicate the MPC OS on Apple's devices. SynthStation and it's 9(non-sampling) pads show how unlikely this probably is. With the arrival of Kong, maybe Propellerhead would let a standalone Redrum into mobile space. That would be far more useful to than the ReBirth port. A decent SP1200 emulation (or at least the filters) would be great, E-MU has emulated their filters pretty decently in software before.
I really hope some devs are reading this page! LSDJ or LittleGPTracker, Yes!! SynthiPad, yes please (if Chris Carter reads this perhaps he might give us a little hint on progress??). Wasp, yes!
Something for the iPad along the lines of the u-he ACE for some virtual patch cable goodness.
I'd also love to see Berna on the iPad.

I'd love to see something like the korg ds-10 brought over with full touch control - a first-party app by someone like Korg or Roland, with official recreations of their gear. The Ds-10 remains one of the best mobile apps, and it could really be taken to the next level with full touch control and more power behind it.

Lots of good ideas, but as a guitarist, I think there's quite a bit in the realm of synths & samplers when it comes to hand-held music.
What about a full on vst host for the ipad? A cheaper / better version of this: http://smproaudio.com/index.php/en/products/v-machines/vrack
There are hardware audio interfaces for ipad on the way: http://www.studiosixdigital.com/iusbinterface.html and I'm sure all my synth freak friends would make good use of this through the line 6 midi interface.
So that means: effects, amp sims, synths, drum machines and anything else that currently exists on VST could be accessible through the ipad... maybe even on the iphone 4 (I dunno if it has enough power for most VST's but I'm sure the 3Gs and lower do not).
Don't forget to send me a license (and a little more wouldn't hurt;) if you build this...

I think the sampling, multitrack route is defo he way to go though, and with the sp808 that sweet little synth that could come to life with some iPad fairy dust, not To mention awesome effects and resampling, and direct multitrack recording with the option to take bits back to the pads for reworking....

You're right, Akai would never do it, but JJ could probably port the now MIA JJ sequencer over. It would need a visual representation of the pads though. Maybe that's a reason it wouldn't happen as a 16 pad GUI grafted to the sequencer would probably upset Akai. They only leave JJ alone because his refinements sell more 1000/2500's than Akai ever could on their own merits. Nice to dream though.

A virtualised Akai MPC 1000 with jjOS functionality....Although you'd have to come up with a velocity workaround.

FM8 or a TX81z if FM8 was too difficult.
