Another noise update

Noise Machine gets yet another update. Here's the detail:

Global volume multiplier control added

Global Pitch multiplier control added

Cleaner audio
> random partial beats removed
> Audio pops when saving/loading/resetting removed

Beat tempo controls now have a 'synch' button: in 1.1 the different beats could get out of synch as each note as it's own beat counter, this keeps them all using a global beat counter. An option since out of synch beats can be quite interesting.

Dragging a note doesn't stop the notes beats.

Reset now resets the local beat tempo multiplier

Reset now resets the global beat tempo

Shake now randomises beats for the active notes

Save and Load UI reduced to make way for more UI - you now pick the save/load slot first, then pick the operation (save or load). Saved patterns are unaffected.

Slider marks would load slightly offset from expected positions.

Scratch may come to the iPad

Having posted on the removal of the scratch app form the app store I found this statement from the scratch team at MIT:

We're disappointed that Apple decided not to allow a Scratch player on the iPhone or iPad (as part of Apple's policy against apps that interpret or execute code). As we see it, there is nothing more important than empowering the next generation of kids to design, create, and express themselves with new media technologies. That's the idea behind Scratch. Kids around the world are using Scratch to program their own interactive stories, games, animations, and simulations with Scratch -- and sharing their creations with one another online. In the process, kids learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Since the launch of Scratch in 2007, kids have shared nearly 1 million projects on the Scratch website (http://scratch.mit.edu). We hope that Apple will reconsider its policies so that more kids can experience the joys of creating and sharing with Scratch. (By the way, the Scratch player for the iPhone was created by a third party, not by our group at the MIT Media Lab. But our group is planning to make Scratch authoring tools for the iPad in the future, and we hope Apple will allow us....)

I really hope that Apple make an exception to their rule for Scratch on the iPad. I think it would be an excellent app for children, and me too.

More noise possibilities

I was playing with the latest version of 'A Noise Machine', which is a great little app in my opinion. I've said before that it makes me think of Berna, and I still hope that one day Cycling 74 will bring a runtime out for Max/MSP although I guess that Apple might step on that.

Anyway, I do like the features in the new version of noise machine although you will need tiny fingers to use them. Having said that, it almost introduces a randomness to the app because of the smallness of the controls which I kind of like too.

I've had a lot of fun with this app! It'd be nice to be able to record the 'performance' from this app, but as it is I still find it very diverting.

Nanoloop on sale!

Whilst checking my app updates this morning I noticed that Nanoloop has a small bug fix, but more importantly it seems to be on sale again at just £0.59 / $0.99 which is worth letting you know as I remember that some of you missed the last sale price on this app.

Oliver, if you're reading this please let me know when this sale ends so I can let people know.

Symphony update

Symphony has a small update. Here's what's new:

Addition of the natural symbol within the score. Tap the natural symbol on the toolbar to apply it. To deselect an accidental, simply tap the symbol again. Much easier to select rests when there are multiple staves. Minor bug fixes
