nanoloop update
After posting the nanoloop videos yesterday I missed out the update to the app. Here's what's new:
Grantophone for iPhone arrives
A new instrument app arrives on the app store today. Here are the details:
The Grantophone is an extremely expressive and playable musical instrument app. It merges the polyphonic capabilities of a keyboard instrument such as a piano, with the more expressive qualities of instruments like the cello. It supports as many touch points as the device you're using supports. For iPhone that's 5 touch points and for iPad 11. You can control articulation, vibrato, volume and slide from note to note or between octaves. It also comes with several modes you can choose from.
The app is priced at $0.99.
'Simple Moog', arrives on the app store
I've just seen this app arrive on the store and all I can think about is how long it will take before Moog contact the developer with a cease and desist letter.
As for the app itself I doubt it will be of any interest as it just seems to have a bunch of samples in it.

NESynth update
I didn't see an this one coming. Here's what's new with NESynth:
- CoreMIDI is supported. （iOS4.2 or later )
- Supported MIDI interface
- YAMAHA i-MX1
- Supported USB MIDI keyboard(iPad only)
- KORG nanoKEY
- "Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit" is required to connect a USB MIDI keyboard.
- Connection with a MIDI network is possible via WiFi from MAC.

Griff is still free
I've posted about this before but I thought it was worth posting about again. Griff, the mobile music studio for Windows mobile, and it is now free.
So, if you have an old Windows Mobile device knocking go can grab Griff as it and all it's plug ins are now free.

Jampipe is here and this could be a real collaboration solution
For ages I've been talking about collaboration on mobile platforms and how no one has come up with a solution so far. Well Jampipe seems to be a big step in the right direction. This is what Jampipe does:

This shows off one of the new features of the upcoming (as of this writing) v2.0 of ThumbJam: Mic Input Control. It tracks your voice (or anything else) to play the instrument, and you can play the touchscreen simultaneously, of course.
Here, I'm playing the String Ensemble, the lower strings are touchscreen played, and the higher melodic part was controlled by my voice in realtime. I flip a few of the options during it so you get a feel for what is possible.
This was one-take, totally live, no editing, uploaded to soundcloud directly from the app (another new feature).

Actic Keys update shows how much user input is valued
It's always great to see good updates come to an already excellent app, but when a big proportion of the update is as a response to user suggestions I think that is really impressive and shows a real commitment from the developer to their user base.
