iElectribe Gorillaz version released

Korg have brought a new branded version of the iElectribe this morning. Apparently the Gorillaz edition will only run for 10,000 copies and then they'll decide what they're going to do about future sales!

KORG iELECTRIBE Gorillaz Edition - KORG INC.

They certainly have learnt some marketing tricks from the makers of iDrum haven't they? What makes the Gorrilaz so special? Yes- I'm jealous. I used an electribe ER-1 on my 2nd lp way back in 2000. "Like a Tim" used just two electribes on his 'red and blue boxing' lp on Rephlex years back too- do we get an electribe dedicated to us? Nope.

And Korg decide to use their own proprietary sync software that doesn't work with any other non-Korg product? Hmm the Korg iPad empire is starting to get a little smelly..... :(

Yeah how dare they market their products. It's such a shame that now there's a version of the iElectribe available which has been used by the band that has produced a full album with the iPad.

I mean seriously - there's like... no connection. It doesn't make sense. KORG are total sell-outs. I liked them better when they were an indy hardware developer who was next to bankruptcy. Also have all their gear from back then.

Anyone wanna buy some of it?

It's just Tom.

No "said". I can't help that!

Oh I see now. You can't help that either!! LOL

Don't get me wrong. If this is what Korg want to do, I'm not stopping them (well I wouldn't be able to anyway!!).

Like that Roxy dude in that pink suit once sung; "I'm just a Jealous Guy....."

lol!

But the second paragraph, I agree with totally. Korg should be using the technology to wow us, and they're not. Hopefully I will be proved wrong someday, but I'd love to see the MS10, MS20, MS50 and the SQ10 altogether in one. And then something completely new- like a proper digital synth with modular routing. Get a grip Korg!

What is most disturbing is the paragraph: "* Commercial use of the works created by using this application is subject to the copyright clearance from right holders."
I think it's a cool idea, but if you're going to relase an app like this the samples should be cleared. Son now, if you use this and come up with something good, you can't use it in a song?

ATTENTION ! DONT BUY THIS - THE SAMPLES ARE UNDER COPYRIGHT!

how many copies of like a tim were sold compared to what ever gorrilaz album?
p.s. i have a copy of like a tim ;)

@ anonymous: it means that tom will have to ask the lawyers of the gorillaz management nicely if he please may use the samples he bought. then tom will get an letter from the suits saying we want your first borne and half of the sales ( not what you earned), half of the sales. then to tom decides to fart into the sampler him self.

Yet another example of how utterly and totally insane the iDeveloper team is over at Korg.

They've done EVERYTHING right in terms of incredible app design and sound.

Then completely screwed it up with HAMFISTED MIDI implementation and nonsensical 'collector editions' in which there's a bunch of copyright nonsense attached.

lol.

I agree with you guys, but that's just how Korg and corporations that produce music equipment are...

You know the Kaoss Pad 3? Its a 350$ device that will not be updated anymore, even thought it has plenty of bugs : like if you save and reload a song, your tracks might not be in sync anymore, and it can't a simple thing like a precount before recording. The MIDI implementation on the KP3 is really not that great either, there's no MIDI trigger to record samples.. on a hardware sampler!!! .. yeah...

But you know what? Its still a very fun machine, and that's all that matters.

And I wouldn't be surprised Korg comes up with a way to sync all their apps together, .. but only their apps :)

"it can't a simple thing like a precount"

oops, I mean it can't DO a simple thing like precount :D

The TOM version will be free of course.

But nothing will work- like save unless you pay for an in app purchase. Approx £50. Then you must buy copyrighted samples on top

I just called Korg to find out what the copyright protection covers with the app. They said they would call or email me back. I'll keep everyone posted!
