I saw this at Techcrunch and whilst it might be useful generically I'm not sure I'd go with it for music apps. Anyway, you might find it useful.

I surprises me that you aren't too keen on iPad mini Ashley actually as you seem to be into all things that are Palm sized and beautiful for writing music on whilst out and about.
The iPad mini is more than Powerful enough to run Music apps on properly, it's as quick as iPad 2 or even 3 (let's not forget the A5x chip on the 3 was essentially overclocked and juiced up with extra RAM purely to compensate for the demands of the Retina screen), the performance difference between both models is negligible. Granted the new A6 chip is faster still, but the appeal of something that is less than half the weight and more manageable ergonomically with better battery life is far more appealing to me than a 4th gen iPad at the moment.
I can fit the mini in my inside Coat pocket which is fantastic and trust me, having been an iPad 1 user since they came out, the screen size in real terms with regards regular usage is negligible.
Until Apple bring out a Logic 'Tablet edition' and release an iPad Pro model with 128gb or more of Flash storage, I'll be happy to stick with my iPad mini and iPhone 4S combo ;)
