Steve Beresford on the limits of electronic devices
I heard Steve Beresford talk about the limits of electronics in free improvisation at the London Music Hackspace two weeks ago. It was a great talk and made me start to think in different directions about musical practice.
It was also really interesting to hear him talk about some of the things he uses in performance. One device that I was pleased to see was the Yamaha SU10 sampler. Steve uses a few of these live and especially likes the ribbon interface on the SU10. Why wouldn't you?
It's great to hear people of his stature talking about devices like this in improvisation, and a great introduction to the music hackspace too. I hope that there'll be a detailed write up at the hackspace site soon, or some photos / video. If there is, I'll post a link to it.
