My eyes ! My eyes !
Alright, who wants to cough up the green to test this baby out ? I couldn't manage to get any of the bundled tracks to sync with one another, and the looping is a bit primitive in comparison to djay's ... The FX don't sound too bad though. It's all a bit cramped on my iPod, probably makes more sense on an iPad. But, BIG BUT, inclusion of iPod import as default, as opposed to a choice between "import" or "access", is a major fail. I know it's probably essential for beatmaps, but if the beatmaps don't work (well), then why bother, just give us ALL of our iPod music library to mix with and keep yer beatmap function.

€12 ? Am not going there.

Yeah, I'll pass on amidio too

I was happy to see the other two "big" iPad apps amidio makes on sale.

$3 for Seline HD,I'll take that.
Omguitar is a steal at $4,but I don't know if I need another guitar emulation app right now. I started out as a real guitarist but have slowly turned into an iPad keyboardist! Might need to hold off on guitar apps before I get fully turned to the dark side ;).

Good luck to amidio as well. Looking forward to a noise.io app that's iPad ready. I have wanted that app as well but never bought the iPhone version.

I'd say that evolution is probably an accurate term here, but it's not an evolutionary leap from the original Touch DJ. Here are the main differences:

- Automatic and multithreaded waveform generation/BPM/beat detection. This is something that the original never did very well. Then again, not exactly a major leap forward. More like a bug fix.
- The beatmap is new, but seems to be just calculated off of the BPM/first beat. Simple enough.
- Autosyncing to the beat a good piece of work.
- Effects. The original had one effect. This has quite a few. Cool, but not extraordinary.
- Multiple cue points. So the original had one, this one has many. Ok, but again not extraordinary.
- Recording a mix. Lots of other DJ apps have had this for a long time, so it makes sense that they would implement it.
- AutoEQ is something new, but really not super advanced. Basing it on the movement of the cross fader, and it's fairly straightforward. Not a major leap. Same with the auto cross fader.

Those are the ho-hum points. The good stuff is:

- Batch track analyzer is something more apps should have.
- Party mode is a definite added bonus.

As always, their major strong suit is their marketing. Always making it look like its the best thing on Earth. Some blatant lies in there of course. It wasn't the first DJ app out there, nor is it the best selling. Great selling yes, but I just saw an add for DJay that was put out by Apple. Guaranteed that is the best selling.

So, my advice is to pass if you already have paid for the original and have other DJ apps.

If you don't have any DJ apps, there are some cheaper ones out there that you should try first.

"the Visual Mixing (mixing without headphones) on the futuristic one-screen interface goes into a completely new dimension"

Sorry, I'm not convinced. You can see beats on a record, but you'd never cue from what you see visually. This would indicate to me that the developer is completely out of touch with any kind of song creation. Even minimalist techno producers like Robert Hood or Jeff Mills will have some kind of structure going on with how the track evolves.

And as for key-mixing? Forget it!

djay for iPhone is still 69p. :)

You can visual mix, it would be tricky but I have pulled it off at a gig on my Serato setup when one of the venue's turntables were broken and the monitor mix was terrible. I definitely still used the sound I could hear but lining up the peaks visually helped a lot.

Anyway this app is free on itunes today, was checking for reviews on it. Was thinking of playing with it just for fun. I think I'll "purchase" it and maybe try it out later.

Oh crap, just looked on itunes, it has a crapton of in-app extras which are basic features you have to pay for. Forget it.
