Mixtikl tutorial - Introducing deep editing

I know that lots of people have been after Mixtikl tutorials and this one looks very useful indeed.

Great demo! I was using the lite app for a while to make sure I could make something of it before I dove into the full.
I never could figure out what the junction module was for. I think in the lite version you really only get to the surface of noatikl and partikl but there is a bit you can check out. This will be in my saved list for future ref when I do get the chance to dig in to this great app.....thanks whoever is making them.

That video was created by the mega-talented Mark Harrop! Flaming Stylus has also created a couple of great tutorial videos on YouTube.

Many thanks folks! :)

Right - back to coding Mixtikl 4.1 ... which has an unexpected twist!

Unfortunately I'm not so talented as to not screw up the audio sync when encoding videos.

The corrected version is posted here

although you can also jump to it from the annotation in the first, wonky version.

@freesoulvw - Junctions are really simple summing/mixing modules. They come in 2 flavours. The one in this video is an audio junction so you use it to add oscillators together. The other - Ctrl Junction - is for mixing control signals from things like LFOs and envelopes.

Same principle but a different sort of signal.

super useful. I would've never figured this stuff out through fiddling with the app.

I guess you could look at this two ways. The prevailing opinion these days seems to be that a good tool is one that can be figured out/understood intuitively. On the other hand, perhaps there is a space for deep applications that require some investment and learning on the part of the user.

Don't know what the right answer is, but thanks for the tutorial!

the engine is great but the interface is really bad. it's lagging and it's damn "engineer's taste". if you want it to be esoteric - yes - it is. but as a musician and designer with long years in this area - and i also used Koan - i cant tell you i regret that i bought this app. it has 1000000 menus and makes little sense. DO SOMETHING ON INTERFACE PLS !

Hi waka_x,

Many thanks for your feedback.

Tim has drawn-up a nice design that gives cleaned-up (more direct) access to sound etc. editing. Its a nice design IMO, but will be a nightmare for me to implement. :)

Still, we'll definitely take the pain and do the work at some point, once we have some other hard stuff out of the way. In the interim, I hope you stick with Mixtikl!

Best wishes,

Pete
