Kid Baltan and Tom Dissevelt 1959

Just think about how much of this you can do with just a phone now. Thanks to everyone who pointed me at this video. I really enjoyed watching it.

...either way, you need a 'tache to complete the look...a trench coat and a cigarette helps too!

the poor bugger (Dissevelt) died from smoking too many fags :(

If you ever see The Alchemists of Sound about the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, you will hear the music 'Vibration' by Tom Dissevelt, and Brian Hodgson takes all the credit for Tom's masterpiece! Boo! :(

Dissevelt tried to get a job with the workshop, but was ignored by the BBC. The story has a very sad ending because Dissevelt, who was obviously extremely talented, ended up leaving music and smoking himself to death! (I'm not kidding- those Dutch ciggies!)

Oddly, a similar fate happened to Delia Derbyshire, who was in the workshop. But it was the booze that took her. :(

if you're in London in the autumn, it's worth checking out the Science museum....there's a section on Daphne Oram's "Oramics" synth which uses drawn waveforms to create the sound and manipulate it...from the early 60s I think. It says late June here and I think there is an accompanying app too!
