Ok, what's missing?

Core midi via cck?
Ext midi sync of devices?
Play in background?

Anonymous said...

"Core MIDI in this App is useless".
... and so is EXT SYNC...

This App does NOT require or need MIDI.

"Play in the background"
it DOES over KORG WiFi...

EXCELLENT App and worth every penny...

*****stars from me...

Would be perfect if it didn't have knobs.

Just kidding.

This app looks like it's an major achievement for iOS music. Impressive.

@anonymous

Are you saying core midi is broken or not needed ?

If so that is untrue and any pro app deserves the option to use a proper touch sensitive keyboard.

Also ext midi sync is a great thing to have, this way you can actually use it in the studio as apposed to a standalone, in the box toy.

its looking really cool...

I'm going to buy that for sure but
it misses audiocopy to other apps and there is no compressor or eq.

Pretty bad for the "last in audiocopy chain" app...

there is no overdrive too :(

Rip-off, don't buy it. Half the components are in- app purchases that are super expensive. The whole set up is fussy and hard to use. I fell for the pictures. Nanostudio and Beatmaker2 still rule.

It really is pretty cool because you can do these crazy setups. You do have to purchase a lot more then just the initial app to really take advantage of it, though. There are a couple things that I don't like about it. I think they could fix them pretty easy, though. It doesn't play in the background and more importantly, it stops playing if your screen locks, even if it is the currently focused app. And of course if I could use my midi devices on it that would be fantastic!

Exactly what about it is Fussy and hard to use? I find the interface really fluid - this is light years ahead of the rebirth pan and zoom stuff.

The exception may be that if you prefer sequencing to live playing, you should probably stay away from something like this.

The IAP is something that people should be aware of. I do agree that 5$ for a delay effect doesn't make much sense (it's obviously just priced that way to lower the barrier to entry but offer a high incentive for people to pay the real price). But in the end 15-25$ is not unreasonable for a modular studio like this.

I'm wasn't a huge fan of dopplerpad - I always felt it was about 2-3 tweaks away from it's full potential, but this is really an achievement. It's kindof annoying that people dismiss it after using it for 10 minutes.

@anon (2 above) what's the use case for those things? I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable in a live performance multitasking two music apps together.

When would you want it to continue playing when the screen locks? I guess that may have a use if you're jamming on top of your track and want to save batteries, but in most cases, I would think that you would want it to stop when the screen locks.

14 comments and no mentions of how similar it is to Audiotools?

Imagine if Apple would've allowed Flash in IOS, we could've been using Audiotool all this time.

Even the Wii has Flash... Just saying...

@Brian
You are a BIG DICKHEAD.

EdASL said...

It does look a lot like Audiotool, doesn't it?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I guess your right on the multitask thing. I was thinking that it would reload if I switched to another app and then back, but it doesn't. :) The sleep thing has to do with me liking to listen to a track and not having to disable the lock screen just for this app. I like to listen to my tracks in the background to see where I can improve them, if that makes sense.

Burnstudios Audiotool is definitely more advanced than TT, and free, but I think TT is off to a good start if it's supported.

PS. Cut the IAP prices in half

Holy shit, another £21 t unlock the rest of the modules? GTFO!

Can't believe peeps are complaining. I downloaded it and its a great start. £3 it's not perfect but i don't get how I'd be forced to buy any in apps if I don't want to and there's only the fx and the crossfader and a mixer for sends. I paid more for addictive synth and more disappointed with that. It will def serve a purpose.

I am in love just from the idea and the concept. When your in love with something the thing you love can do no wrong. My comments may be biased in that respect.

I am hopeful and dedicated when it comes to my iPad music so if I can make an app work and if that app can add just one new aspect to my tracks then I consider it a win.

$5. I used to smoke $5 a day. Not even thinking twice. I might as well have set the $5 bill on fire that's all I was doing. These apps are forever. If this app can give me just one good sound to add to a track then it's paid for itself.

Some of you drink $5 cups of coffee do you blog post Starbucks saying that your $5 blended mocha should have come with extras.....would you like fries with that.......blog Mc Donalds and tell them that your $5 burger cost should include drink and fries. We live in a modular world and we pay for "IAP" all the time we just take things out of context. In perspective the things we buy in our everyday lives compared to the things we demand of our developers is completely one sided.

On that note. I am also in agreement with some(most) of the others. The delay and similar effects should be half of the cost they are now. Maybe $1.99US. My fix. Save money or decide if that specific in app purchase is absolutely needed. Can I add that effect using another app on my iPad like amp kit free, possibly. Will my song be totally ruined and not able to be finished without buying all the IAP at once....doubtful.

Great points, but I'm sort of bummed that AudioCopy is not supported, while AudioPaste is.

I suspect a sinister motive— that it is to sell me more $5 digital delays instead of letting me export my TableTop work into studio.HD and just be done with it. :)

AudioCopy is on it's way.

In thanks for the success of the launch and to respond to some comments about IAPs we are extending the launch promotion to include deals on the effects:

Please read the post to find out how we want to take care of the early adopters. :)

Update - Not only is Audiocopy supported, core MIDI is in the future (see latest video on their YouTube channel). Lots to love about this app... they even released a T-Pain voice device and mic device. A year after the article, it's gotten better. I love the interface and I find it way more intuitive than anything else on iPad.
