But not in the UK sadly, at least not yet anyway. Anyway, I did have a look at it to see what all the fuss was about, but aside from the slightly odd 'try before you buy' function I couldn't see why you'd use their store over any of the others or indeed the google app store. Or am I missing something?

That new Sammy Tablet is FAT. I wish nothing but good things for Amazon and their app store.
They saved me a TON of money over the last 9 years.
Google's Android Market is a placeholder.
Amazon.com does a thriving business in e-commerce.
Even Apple barely makes money on their App Store.
@Richard: could you elaborate on that last sentence a little more at all? It's blowing my mind at the moment...

Apple recently said the App Store has grossed about $3B over its 2.75 years. Apple kept 30% -- about $1B. But the costs of running the App Store for 2.75 years are quite high -- serving 10 billion original downoads (plus who knows how many updates and duplicates), billions of credit transactions, hand screening 400,000 original apps plus several times that many updates. Running the App Store site and iTunes Connect for 2.75 years. etc.
Now compare that Apple made $6B on $26.7B of reveue in just the last 3 months of 2010.
