I just bought this recently, now it goes free and I should pay again for the "pro" version. Think I'll be passing this time around and make do with what I have.
10$ is a lot, especially for those (like me) who purchased the original Soundprism. It looks nice, but I won't buy it again sorry, because I'm getting tired of having to buy the same app many times just to keep up.. and now that my ipod touch 2g will be phased out on the next update, it means I would need to buy a new one just to keep up? Should I expect to be forced to buy a new one every two years?
So this is what IOS has become? I guess this is why I don't buy apps anymore unless they're on sale.
you gotta applaud them for at least trying to offer it as an in app purchase. problem is that apple wouldn't allow them to do that... if anyone's to blame for this its apple.
Apple has nothing to do in this. They have rule on what could or could not be in-App purchase. CoreMidi was clearly not. ( will Audanika try to make us pay for sound or display next time ? ).
What makes me really sad/angry is that 1st adopters of Sounprism like me are clearly abused in this.
I will now personally wait for Soundprism Mega Pro 25++ to come out. At least I will perhaps be able to have SoundPrism Pro for free ...
A NOT happy Soundprism customer.

"if anyone's to blame for this its apple."
Yes I know. Audanika (the Soundprism creators) are not responsible for that, but I feel they did set the price a little high for the pro version (how much will it be once the intro price is over?). But they are not the only ones doing this, there are many others (like Bassline 2 and Beatmaker 2 for example) who also are guilty of what looks like standard practice now on IOS.
I really dislike in-app purchase. Its only used to gouge customers. iGOG only comes with a single drumkit??.. oh yeah... A HUUUGE thank you to the Thumbjam creators, who gives out additional kits for free.
Bought it last week. Not impressed with the mechanics used to create this 'upgrade' path. Won't be upgrading.
I developed an innovative synth app, only the current version isn't sending audio out. A new version which sends audio out in a clever way (using tilt and all) will be submitted soon. Think I'll release it as a Pro version to cover my hard work.
Joking aside, I'm really annoyed by Audanika now. I bought Soundprism the day it was launched. Cute and interesting, but it will remain a toy until some Midi export is added. I wasn't expecting anything fancy, but a simple file export I did expect at some point. Now I believe the original app will become abandonware, unfortunately.
I really like the original version of this app but have to say this is a dick move to charge 10 bucks to get MIDI support.
I bought SoundPrism specifically because the devs said they intended to bring MIDI support, never mentioning they were going to charge more for it. I wanted to support this, so I bought. Now it feels like a bait-and-switch, and I've been screwed over. On the other hand iOS apps a perhaps *too cheap, so I do have some sympathy. Still, at this point it's left a bitter taste and for now at least I'm going to pass on the "Pro" version.

NEVER buy SUPPORT apps with more than 1 version or else the trend will GROW.
PS - if the MIDI implementation ain't superior like MoDrum's with background audio support, it's a waste of money.
Another app I won't be buying.
I bought Soundprism recently at the discount price of 79 eurocents. It's a nice app but maybe better suited to the ipad than the iphone.
Is this update really worth 8 euro?
And this is *very* customer unfriendly:
--->Why announce an introductory price without disclosing the regular price??
while the dev say its different,
and maybe it is from their point of view,
for me it was already the same with nLog,
first paying 10 bucks to upgrade,
and than another 10 for the midi upgrade
while making the other one free
I have to say as a programmer (not an iphone developer) these comments are disheartening.
Do you guys really think people get into phone niche music app development for the greed? Do you realize how many "ripoff" 10$ upgrades they have to sell to make even 1 programmer a $30k salary, let alone a few people?
If you don't need the app, that's fine, but man, if you guys only knew knew how much blood sweat and tears goes into even a s"hitty", unsuccessful app... let alone a nice one like this (and I say this not being a heavy user of soundprism)
