Unlike an ipod touch, with this form factor, it seems a little ridiculous to have accelorometer/gyroscope controls... doesn't exactly work for precise performance. I can imagine this thing flying out of hands while trying to do these ridiculous motions onstage.
Still, it is useful to see more performances of the op-1 in action. Still undecided at this point
I don't see anything wrong with something like the OP-1 having accelerometer/gyroscope controls. The ipod touch/ipad could fly out of your hand just as much if you use apps that requires motion.
And if you believe onstage motions looks ridiculous with the OP-1, realize its similar with the ipod touch or ipad and a lot of musical instruments.
@j well I'll give you that it's partially a matter of taste.
With my ipod touch between my two hands, I can control the tilt pretty precisely. My thumbs are free to press stuff, which is a natural way to push things on the screen of an ipod touch anyway. Given the way you hold it, it's at much less risk of flying out of your hands. I know it works well, because I manage to do a lot of damage in nazi zombies with this setup =)
However, I will also allow that it may look just as ridiculous onstage.
With the op-1 form factor, it's more like holding a computer keyboard in the air and move it around while trying to type at the same time... not so great.
I don't have an ipad, nor have I seen many videos of instruments with ipad accelerometer controls (maybe there's a reason for that...?), so I can't really speak to that.

I would probably put a strap on the OP-1 if I was to use it that way, it could make a great keytar sampler :)
