iOS 5 GM released to Devs, so what about the CCK on the iPhone?

A good question from the comments in my last post about the 4S. Now that the iOS5 GM is out, what is the actual story on the CCK working in iOS5?

Any devs able to give an answer?

Sadly, it does not work. Anybody wanting to use the CCK on an iPhone 4 (or 4S) will have to revert to iOS 5 beta 6, the only one that supported the CCK for USB audio. Now we know it was probably a mistake.

But MIDI is still fine right?

The CCK works perfectly on the iPad still with iOS5 GM.

Any possible way to revert iOS5 beta7 to beta6?

Oh it's so sad :-(
I have a very little hope that it will work in final release…
BTW any info about beta6 stability?

Just to clarify: it always worked and still works on the iPad, with any version of iOS 5, including betas or the final release. But it does not work anymore on the iPhone.

Again, if you want to use the CCK on the iPhone 4 or 4S, your only option is installing iOS 5 beta 6. It was pretty stable, although there were still some bugs. Beta 7 was definitely better, but it removed the CCK support.

I don't really know if you can go back to a beta once you upgraded to the final release. Somebody should offer some help on that...

Betas expire eventually anyway, forcing you to update to the stable release. It's a shame Apple doesn't let us use the CCK with the iPhone :(

Its a shame Apple doesn't let us use its OS with its hardware.

Why not use the new Midi Mobilizer or the new Yamaha Midi thing? They both use the dock connector and let you tap into Core Midi on all your iOS devices.

CCK is not for MIDI only, any usb audio interface, import photos from good camera, etc…

it's a dream that didn't come true…

BTW, maybe any ways to enable this feature on jailbroken device?

Damn you Apple!! Why would you do such a thing? It worked nicely.

Oh yeah.. I almost forgot how Apple disabled my wallpaper on my Touch2G because they claimed it was too slow..

I forgot also how Apple disabled the home button double tap volume menu

.. and the orientation lock button on the ipad (thank god its been reinstated recently)..
