I can't believe that it is a year since that first Noise IO video. Amazing. Here's what Amidio say about there video:
This a landmark video for Amidio Inc, since exactly 1 year ago we published our first video of Noise.io iPhone synthesizer (in early beta). Now, 1 year since that, we have created 5 music apps, that can be used together to produce a full-blown track. This video shows you a tiny bit of what's possible. All sounds generated on the iPhone and then sent through an FX processor.
We really think that handheld mobile devices - with the iPhone being the first of them - are the key to the future of music creation and are strongly inclined to continue developing revolutionary music applications.

I still don't know what all the fuss is over Noise IO. Yes it has an okay sound engine, but the interface is simply awful, so awful, that I no longer use it ( for funnily enough, about a year too!). There have been so many more, better apps released since the release of IO. I think part of the problem, or even success of the Amidio team have been their relentless (even aggressive) marketing of their products. That's fine afaic, but it still distracts from what actually in the end, is really just a mediocre product. Just my opinion.
It's a shame you didn't like the design of Noise.io, but maybe you just didn't have time to grasp it. As most people say, "once you get to know it, it becomes a joy to use", and that describes it exactly.
As for the marketing, well, I do not see and for sure not intended to output any agression, but it's already evident that some people would like to give us labels for no reason ;)
This all seems to be getting out of hand.
In my view Amidio haven't used any aggressive marketing at all.
I have no issues with people liking one interface over another, no problem at all, but I'd really rather people didn't use Palm Sounds as a place for hurling insults, that's not what it is for.
That's why they use anonymous identities ;) I think I know who writes this stuff, anyway.
Wow a year! I remember patiently waiting for it. The sound engine is superb (unmatched IMHO ) and the playing interface is great too. Latest version is a little laggy on my iPod touch 1g but I guess that's the price one pays for a more CPU intensive app. I think noise.io is still Amidio's best app for what I do. I haven't had time to "bond" with hexatone yet! I have no idea how people create such great patches with noise.io though either, but i'm sure glad they do. Keep it up Toyo et al.
Maybe I should turn off anon comments? I don't know I'd rather not on the whole, as I like people to be able to comment wherever and however they want.
I agree that it has a steep learning curve but once i was able to get used to the UI and features then thats when the fun starts. I never looked back ever since.
Also, people need to be patient and spend time with certain apps. You can't just give up right away.
