I noticed Jordan in this months Computer Music as well this month. He's talking about his involvement with iOS app development. Worth a read.

@Anon on top

JR has really put some weight and resources into great IOS apps that might have never seen the light of day if it wasn't of him. As much as you hate him, he is partly responsible for the success of the IOS music ecosystem.

Deal with it.

Yea, I think Jordan has really embraced the iOS and I really like some of his YouTube video demos.

I like the great picture here of him from the article. He looks super cool, in the videos he seems like the kind of smart nerdy tech/music guy you would want to hang with and and listen to his record collection.

Just so I am clear I like the fact that he is so enthusastic and smart. Some of his demos scare me cause he is so talented.

Hey Anonymous,

Better to be a has been than a might of been or never was.

I speak from experence.

I think he is doing a lot more interesting things now than he did when he was in the middle of the media thing. I think his apps are nice there is a lot of depth and very useful. The graphics issues are realy a matter of taste and I guess I like the more minimal look of some apps. I like Curtus before the recient change of the interface to look more like knobs. But hey they have a sence of fun, something we all should have.

Jordan may not exactly be my (or your) cup of tea but he's a character, and we need characters. Characters bring richness to the world.

Besides, anyone who can carry off a beard like that deserves recognition :)

Too all the JR haters :

Samplewiz is one of the best IOS sampler.

Geo Synth might have never been if it wasn't for JR's support (I mean financial support). HUGE nods to Rob Fielding also, because if it wasn't of him we'd be stuck only with virtual pianos.

And BTW, I hate Dream Theater (not a prog rock fan), and I'm not a fan of JR either, and I do think JR's apps could look better, but I'd like you to name one professional musician with a worldwide status like JR who has supported apps as much as JR?

Ritchie hawtin aka plastickman, Detroit techno legend

Far bigger name than rudess, he supports apps, has his own custom made and uses them live

David guetta, number 2 dj in the world

There's many more

I don't think there are any other musicians that can play as well as him, that use, or probably even know about what sort of stuff you can get on iOS.
JR also says in the interview that there may be a possibility of his wares coming to the android platform.
I don't like his music, but I don't listen to it! I DO like how knowledgeable, passionate, enthusiastic and experienced he is regarding iOS. He is using his name to bring weight and exposure to people that may not know just how awesome a lot of these apps are, and how many of them can be used in a studio or on stage.

Yeah I know those guys, but other than some really simple remix apps, what else have they done?

I see Ritchie using his Lemurs more than his ipads.

Brian eno

Jean Michelle jarre

Gorillas

Yes, Brian Eno and Gorillaz apps are nice, although Gorillaz is more of a patch for iElectribe, where Brian Eno has been more involved in the app making process. But I don't know a Jean-Michel Jarre app other than his fan app with concert infos and stuff, how is it called?

But what I was wondering is who supported apps "as much" as JR, who has been constantly backing behind apps for years. Brian Eno does fit that description, but not the other ones.
