Korg have been busy! Here what's new in the amazing update 2.0 to iKaossilator:
iKaossilator Version 2 is available now!
Audio export, iPad full-screen support, and many more new features
● Audio Export records and saves your performance, just as you heard it
● iPad native support allows the iKaossilator to fill the iPad’s large 9.7" screen
● “SoundCloud” allows users to share and remix loops with other users worldwide
● “AudioCopy” provides an easy way to copy audio data between musical instrument apps
● Flex Play makes it easy to generate fills and breaks
Audio Export saves your performance as a file
Now you can record your performance in real time, or export a completed loop as an audio file. By sending your creations to a Mac or PC via iTunes, you can share them with your friends or use them in a full-fledged music production. You can also upload them directly to SoundCloud.
iPad native support provides full-screen (9.7") iKaossilator enjoyment
Now you can perform taking full advantage of the iPad's large 9.7" display. Enjoy iKaossilator on your iPhone while riding public transportation, and on your iPad while performing live!
“SoundCloud” allows sharing or remix loops with users worldwide
“SoundCloud” is a music distribution and sharing service that's very popular among musical creators. The loops you create can now be uploaded directly to “SoundCloud” from within the app. If you attach the loop data when doing so, it will be shared to other users' loop lists. Users worldwide will be exposed to new loops they've never heard, and can combine them with their own loops to create remixes. It's a new way of enjoying music by and unleashing your iKaossilator’s potential throughout the world.
“AudioCopy” lets you share audio data between musical instrument apps
Newly added support for “AudioCopy” from Sonoma Wire Works means that you can copy and paste audio data between apps. Audio data you export from iKaossilator can be sent to apps that support AudioPaste.
Flex Play makes it easy to generate fills and breaks
Designed for live performance, the Flex Play feature makes it easy to generate fills or breaks. Touch and hold Length or Tempo buttons, and then try stroking the touchpad. Movement in the X-axis will change the Length of all parts, and movement in the Y-axis will change the Tempo, allowing you to add dynamic changes to your song that will further expand your performance possibilities.

Yes indeed - app of the week again!!
Uploaded a quick loop to the "shared library". Have fun with it. Bed time now it's 1 am! Thanks Korg for keeping me awake ;)
Look for it- wanna wana by freesoulsound
Woke up to this news this morning . . . This is a great start to a great day!
KORGINC put this video up this morning on youtube

this update is exactly what was needed!Just made this app more useful and fun x 10!
well done korg for giving us what we want....maybe NI imaschine might take a few notes:)
"I might have to suddenly be ill this aftenoon and go home"!!!!
Wait a minute - we're not done complaining about how lame Korg is for not having audio copy and how useless and unprofessional everyone is that uses this is - can we please get back to the armchair app quarterbacking?

Let the US vs UK flame wars begin...
Btw THANK YOU KORG from Flatbush Brooklyn
Can't help voicing one little complaint- wish they'd also gone with clipboard instead of only Sonoma copy/paste...
is this a first for Korg in adopting ACP?
ACP is really pivotal in the way I like to work. Would love to get my own sounds in now...
It's a great update.
All of Korg's other apps have ACP, as well. There was never a doubt in my mind they would add it to iKaossilator, but not everyone around here had such faith. :)
This is really tempting now!
A nice app just got even nicer!
hey Brooklyn,let's battle

This app is soulless, and this isn't gonna fix that.
Folks, I've posted this before on the Korg Forums but not got a response. The update doesn't fix my problem either. So, can anyone repeat this:
* Using ipad 1 with iOS 5.0.1
* Record a track in iKaossilator, dragging your finger around reasonably quickly.
* Does the playback follow your moves smoothly, or does it jump around like it only recorded a few events? That's both visually and the sound.
I'm baffled. It works fine on my 3GS (using 5.0.1) and used to work fine on my iPad on iOS 4. I've tried killing all tasks, rebooting etc. No difference.
But if I play back a built-in recording the motion is smoooooooth. So the problem seems to be during track recording.
TIA
Rob
So where are the settings for acp? Can't find them
"This app is soulless, and this isn't gonna fix that."
Pitchfork dude is back :(
@robman84
It works fine on my iPad1 iOS 5.0.1.
All movements are recorded ok with no issues.
Also works on my 4S with same OS Version.
Don't want to sound patronising but have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling?
Seems like you've tried everything else.
@app help for dummies
The ACP is contained in the Export tab; Export as .wav renders it then brings up the dialog to Copy.
@anonymous haven't tried deleting and reinstalling - I upgraded to v.2 so I kind of assumed everything gets removed anyway. Will give it a go. Glad to know it works for you so that rules out a problem anyway!
@Chris:
Hey, man, I'm not the guy who was complaining yesterday about this app and Palm Sounds covering if that is what you mean. I'm just a fan of Korg and the original hardware Kaossilator who got really disappointed with this app.
Cheers
was good, now a very good app.some excellent sounds if you're not an anal person.
Problem solved! Somehow I had managed to turn on quantizing in the tempo section (didn't even know it was there!)
Now, where do I look to find that arpeggiator option from the Kaossilator? ;)
After all that I bought the app
Sounded ok at first, but when I plugged ipad2 into jbl speakers
What a crappy sound
Very low quality, I then went back to ims20 and that sounded fine, as did electribe
So it's not my speakers, amp or iPad
Does this now mean I can flood the palm sounds sound cloud group with thousands of patterns I never got round to making into tracks? The remix stuff would be a nice focus for some community activity here. Feel free to rip apart my "promises" from the shared loops for starters...
Now if they'd just implement the rest of my collaboration concept...
Wow, 9 korg posts today :)
Yes, wow, this app is now fully awesome, fully credible track making in minutes!
@Damn I got ripped off
Sounds great through my io Dock, Motu 828, and KRK Rokit 8s.
Really fun app. Some of the sounds are a bit cheesy, but I forgive them as I'm not lactose intolerant!
The only cheese I like is green and comes from the Netherlands:)
Korg police haha
Special composition dedicated to the Korg police just output from my iPod...
"Anomynous threat" [sic]
Enjoy... Or destroy...
Just checked to see if there's a Korg Kaossilator SoundCloud Group yet ... as of 8 hours ago ... yes. I'm now the 34th member .... guess that means I'll have to contribute something to the group now :)
Now this app is better than nannymoog mr Laurent haha!
Sounds awesome through my stereo headgoggles!!
'This app is soulless...'
Oh, pah-leez...
Drama Queen in the house! Now we obviously need a list of 'Soulful' app's to keep it all straight.
Mr. pitchfork, please give us the soulful list - we are lost without your vast and helpful knowledge.
So now some app's have soul's, and other's don't? What kind of gibberish is that?
I would also love to see that anon guy produce his/her list of soulful/soulless app's...
Still waiting...
maybe 'added soul' will be in the next update? ;-)
stop moaning about nothing!
What would be really nice would be to hear some of the music that detractors make in the apps that do have acp/soul/whatever else they need.
Put their music where their mouth is so to speak.
In no way am I singling out Chris, he's actually intrigued me over what the kaossilator has that it's younger cousin lacks and he hints at a deeper musical understanding than "I must have copy and paste" does.
"hypno evolver" where my mouth was.
Enjoy... Or destroy...
Infinite overdub, mixing of different scales and bpm settings within a pattern, gate arpeggiator, (and better sound quality). None of the weirdest and most personal stuff made with the original hardware can be achieved with the iOS version. The iKaossilator have many other features the original lacks. They'r so different I'm surprised of being asked about that. But overall it is boring. Sounds cheesy. And soulless.
And again, I'm not the copy/paste guy. I'm the soulless guy.
@AC That was helpful. Sorry if it appeared I'd confused you with copy and paste, I hadn't. You've confirmed what I suspected: that there is a valid musical perspective in your opinion. Thank you.

Hey I just quoted pitchfork dude!
I do however think this app needs more Gay.
My apologies the identity mismatch continues. I was referring to the anonymous response to Chris around soullessness not chris's comments themselves. My bad. AC worked out I meant him and was more than helpful.
Essentially Korg pulled out what a number of kaossilator owners might have considered the soul of the machine when they added the I.
Metaphysically ironic...
Sorry Chris
I own both, and find their soul levels are completely equal.
