Having done a fair bit of synth diy and circuit bending I am always drawn to making stuff to sell when I see prices like this! However I would urge people looking at stuff like this to spend the 200 on attending decent workshop to learn how to solder and read schematics setting them on the path to building there own stuff possibly buying nic collins book or the reed ghazala one as well. Of course that route isn't for everyone....hhhhm what could I make;)

The Monotron is an icon of design- in exactly the same way the Coco-Cola bottle is/was (and that was a cheap throwaway piece of glass!), or like this computer is;
Don't forget that people saw the Stylophone back in the 1960's in the same way you see the Monotron now- a cheap, hip plastic toy with a picture of some Australian bum on the side of it! Wait 'til Kraftwerk use it on their next tour- then you won't be laughing. ;)
It's up to you, if you want to ruin your Monotron, that's entirely up to you. lol!
Collaboration sounds like it could be fun! But be warned, some of my collabs have ended in utter disaster! These were two of the best (there were other good ones too);

No. It's ugly! The current Monotron is a design icon- just like the Stylophone was. Why change it?
Do that to a mono TRIBE with midi jacks and a USB input to connect a Korg microkey then call me when the auction is about to end ;)
its beautiful and a nice travel case, but i wouldnt pay 200 british pounds for it. handmade stuff has its price.
