What a winning combination - Genome + SampleTank. Oh yes, didn't anyone tell you this goodie has network midi and plays in the background too? WOW.
Will the real app of the week please step forward?
@Trueyorky:
I'm very interested in this app, but have read more than once about timing glitches and lag. Could you comment on your experiences of using this app, please? Eg. Do you use it with external MIDI equipment or virtual MIDI and if you've experienced the timing issues, or if the updates the app has recieved have cured these issues.
@ Romeo
I haven't noticed any serious timing issues. Nowadays I use virtual midi on the iPad to do all of my music however, I have too many options to use midi everyday (synths, drums, loops, sequencers, audio, ACP, studios...we really are spoilt) so that could be a factor.
I've been running Genome with SampleTank and it sounds great - both are multitimbral. Sure to keep me busy for a while and now along comes Animoog!
I've used Genome with my KP3, Kaossilator Pro, and microSAMPLER. It works really well. I haven't seen any lag with what I have been doing. I had it controlling the keys on my microSAMPLER while the microSAMPLER recorded the pattern, for instance. And the timing was perfect. There are some glitches with Genome when you are trying to import or export midi from the tracks, but when it is playing I haven't had any crashes. Note that I always make sure all other apps are closed when using it.
@Trueyorky & @Telengard:
Thank you both very much for your opinions. With the different ways you're both using it, it looks like the reports of timing issues and lag could just be users that had other apps running in the background, or haven't rebooted, which both seem to be very common causes of issues. It's a shame that there are so many poor reviews and negative feedback simply because users haven't tried, or don't know about these possible 'easy fixes'.
Thanks again, it's much appreciated. This is going to make an excellent addition to my app arsenal.
