Addictive microSynth arrives and it looks great

Awesome idea!

Combines the synthesis power of Addictive Synth with an easy to use 4 track loop phrase recorder.

It was never so easy to create beautiful sounds and driving loops. The unique dynamic wavetable synthesis allows you to explore an unprecedented wide range of sonic territory. From acid loops, crystal clear percussions, realistic human choirs to complex musical soundscapes nothing seems impossible with only a handful parameters to tweak.

Together with the intelligent randomizer for both sounds and arpeggios you will loose any sense of time and space while exploring unknown sonic territories. Right from the beginning you'll understand why it's named Addictive.

Features:

4 track Loop recorder

Looks great ... I'm off to the App Store ... but I'll be back :)

all I can say is WOW
this thing has an absurd value for 2.99 - packed full of features that many developers have to delay until the 3rd or 4th revisions- but these cats did a fantastic job with this additive synth.

Anyone who considers themselves as a synthesis fan owe it to themselves to check out this ios additive synth.

Subtractive synthesis are very popular and the most common synthesis on iOS- but additive synthesis, granular synthesis, and this new organic synthesis are must haves.

Within the first 5 minutes of playing- I was recording loops and audio copy/pasting it to Twisted Wave and then to Samplewiz- it is very inspiring

I've been playing with Addictive MICRO all morning.

I love the live recording mode, and the ability to record up to 4 tracks- awesome!

...best of all it works absolutely brilliantly on my 3GS iPhone. Awesome programming Harry! :)

Controversial I know, but this is my "app of the week"! :)

Matt, this version of Addictive is for the iPhone. There is a bigger version for the iPad (hence the name). :)

The first purchase I've made on my new 4S.
Amazing synth, just like it's big brother on the iPad, and with the 4 track recorder it's full to bursting with all the features you need. And of course it's super duper value!
There goes my afternoon, lol.

I'm pretty excited about this one!

@anon 1
I think it's a wavetable synth though, not additive?

I bought this as soon as I saw the notice here. I have Addictive for iPad, and the larger screen is better for tweaking sounds. But it doesn't fit in my jacket pocket. Thank you, VirSyn.

I'm back after tearing myself away from this briefly to say .... "WOW"! I easily created a few loops and dropped them into an Ableton Live folder .... I can see using this app to create a lot of clips for upcoming projects. $2.99 is an amazing value for this.

Addendum: It's astonishing how VirSyn has packed the sound and the interface of Addictive into this tiny package. I feel very lucky.

Two things I noticed (and reported on the VirSyn forum):

- iPhone keyboards are always cramped, but this keyboard shares screen space with the multitrack recorder, which makes it even more cramped.

- Multitouch seems to create problems for the glissando mode. Glisssando works fine if you're only playing one note, but add a note and it doesn't know what to do.

Does this offer much (or anything) that Addictive Synth doesn't already, except iPhone support?

dswo said...

@Jamey: Yes, the multitrack recorder.

@tom

The iPad version doesn't have a loop recorder, on screen keyboard controller with scales., does it ?

4 Track looper

Tom TM said...

@Matt...

You're right it doesn't...yet.

I would imagine that Harry will eventually add this in an update though :)

Can't stop playing....and I've just driven my wife to despair too!!

Jamey said...

Okay thanks. Hopefully they'll upgrade the iPad version with the multitrack then.

Tom TM said...

@Matt... sorry I missed your last bit.

Yes it does (have an on screen keyboard controller with scales). It's just hard to find. :)

I wan to see the 4 track looper on Animoog, not the poor record method..
ok, I understand that devs wan get money, But I prefer universal apps.

Anonymous said...

The "poor" record method is Animoog's best feature, imo. The overdubbing allows for many generations without degradation. Simple volume swells leading to mid-'90's Frippertronics styles.

It, as well as Addictive and Sunrizer would benefit from a proper sequencer, though. Even if the they were as simple as step-poly.

This will be a very nice app once the crash bugs are fixed!

i wont buy this, its virsyns cheap way out not to join omac.
I'm not going to support that attitude.

Tom TM said...

@lala...

Thats a bit paranoid. Have you mentioned it to Harry?

If you start a thread there, I'll chime in. We could all chime in! It may be that Virsyn never read Palm Sounds comments?

@Anon- I know exactly what you mean by Frippertronics!, but the advantage that Addictive has over Animoog is that you get 4 distinct tracks- each of which can be acp'd. It's just a little bit of a shame that you don't get the length without the influence over tempo.

I like Animoog though. I like it a lot. I just wish it was a little more stable on this first ed iPad. :)

lala said...

no, I didn't , I'm talking to 10 developers, can't talk to all of them. if they don't read here, I can't help it. This seams like the only place where hardcore users and devs come together.
I bet by now they stick their heads together and say: oh my, its this lala person again. What does he want this time? lol

lala said...

so, why don't you talk to virsyn, Tom?
I'm already talking to everybody else that is doing something interesting...

lala said...

@anon4: sunrizer supports omac, so there is no need for an included seq ...

Tom TM said...

@lala...

Okay. :) I only left it to you, because it was your idea. So far I'm not really using it, as I prefer to use the iPad as an instrument/sound source, that I can record into a DAW.

But I reckon the more of us who do it, the more we will persuade Virsyn! :)

Harry Gohs said...

thank you all for your comments !
We will of course implement virtual MIDI,
the loop recorder is a thing of it's own and was higher in our priority list.
( and does overdubbing on each track... )
