HyperTunes and thinking about song form

This thought started when I was listening to Laurel Halo's latest album Quarantine. The structure of the songs was completely alien and I found it really interesting to listen to. In fact, I think it's really worth listening anyway.

But it started me thinking about song form and how many of the apps we use are sequencers without addressing song form itself. Not that there's anything wrong with that at all of course. But it made me wonder if there was anything out that that worked as a sequencer that used traditional (and perhaps non-traditional) forms.

Then I found out about HyperTunes. This app is more than just a step sequencer and tries to add form to sequence. It's by no means perfect, but it has some quite interesting features that I think are worth investigating, and I think that it adds something by introducing more form into the songwriting process in iOS.

So I'll be posting the videos of the app during the day, but if you're interested the developer's site has a lot of useful information on how the app works as well.
