Stroke Machine cleans up its problems in a big fix release
Stroke Machine seems to have addressed the issues that damaged its launch version. I'm already hearing that users think that this has fixed the majority of problems, but if you think different please let me know.

- Permanent Audiobus key.
- Fixed audio glitches (drop outs).
- Fixed distorted Audiobus recording.
- Fixed a problem that Stroke Machine stopped generating sound after loading a number of kits.
- Fixed issues with modulation wheel, pitch bend and aftertouch.
- Improved overall performance significantly.
- Improved performance of Phaser.
- Reduced bouncing volume.
- Added yellow voice killing indicator to the right of the Master Volume label. If this indicator lights up during playback, you might consider removing one or two notes in your pattern.
- Added red audio glitch indicator to the right of the voice killing indicator. During normal operation, Stroke Machine doesn't glitch anymore, but it might happen that another process draws so much CPU performance temporarily that this results in a glitch.
- Added "Download Manual" button to Global page.
- Added lots of Preset Kits.
- Changed "www.frankemusic.de" to a button linked to the Franke Music website.
- Fixed issue with kits using Delay or Clk Delay having the wrong delay length.
- Fixed an issue with muted or soloed parts when loading a kit.
- Fixed an issue in the assign view.
- Fixed hanging notes on sequencer playback start.
- Fixed problem with some notes playing back too long.
- Fixed a zoom error in step view.
- Fixed possible crash when loading a sound or kit.
- Fixed crash when importing a sound or kit via document sharing on the iPad, i.e. by tapping on a Stroke Machine document received via email.

Sunvox 1.7.4 is coming, and with Raspberry Pi too ...
Here's what's new in this release:
- SunVox has been ported to Raspberry Pi;
- engine optimization;
- new module - Sound2Ctl; this module can convert the audio signal to the numeric value of any selected controller;
- new module - MultiCtl; with this module you can control multiple controllers at once;
- Amplifier: new controller "Absolute" has been added; enable it to apply "absolute value" filter to the signal;
- MultiSynth: new buttons have been added: Options, Reset, Smooth, Load, Save;
- MultiSynth: now you can switch between different types of Velocity Graphs in the Options menu; it is useful for complex velocity mapping;
- DrumSynth is now supports Velocity Change commands;
- "Change font size" option has been changed to "Scale"; and now you can change the pattern editor scale very smoothly on any device;

Of course the iOS and Android versions follow, but what's this "something else in the final release..."? What does that mean?
Drama Queen Fantasy Hour by Frozen Lonesome
A dense synth post-holiday exploration. All sounds from my Bass Station II and Xynthesizr. Ran through AUXFX:Dub into LoopyHD. Arranged in Loopy, mastered in Auria and AudioMastering.
Apples and Oranges by Angel José
The name does not give a clue to what I did here. Well, I have been noodling with Thor making patches and it is fantastic and surprisingly easy to make noises. I wanted to find another synth to build the same patches and see if I'm successful in recreating the sounds. Not so easy as I thought. I built the beat and base on ReBirth, Audiobus to Garageband, then the other four synths in the first part are using Cassini. The second pass is using Thor. The pad is almost spot on, the others not so much, especially the lead and the FM-type sounds, vastly different from both, plus the way the filters interact is also different. I gave it a try and now I can build the same patches on other synths to see what other differences or similarities I encounter. Let's see what happens :)

I've posted about this before, but it's worth restating as it's a very handy resource if you'd like to get into DIY synths but are put off by the fact that you don't have all the skills for actually building the stuff. So I wanted to make people aware of the Trusted Builders list on the Mutable Instruments forum. The trusted builders are people who are skilled at making Shruthis or other mutable instruments kits. So if you're interested in getting a kit made but either might struggle to make it yourself or just don't have the time, you should check out this list, and my personal favourite on the list is Paul (who happens to be an old friend, but is also an excellent builder).

Musix Pro controlling VSTs in Cubase

Shiverware recently had a contest to show off their control app for the iPad, Musix Pro. I was incredibly fortunate to come in second place, and amazed at the generosity of their prizes, and the friendliness of their staff. I originally wrote a film-esque piece to show this off, but scrapped it for something a bit more energetic. Now that the contest is over, I wanted to get it down before it fled as so many other ideas do.
It's a great app, very responsive, customizable with a number of different key configurations and sizes, has an internal sound engine, but plays nicely with other iPad apps, and can also send midi externally, in this case to my DAW playing some orchestral sounds in Cubase.
Can't say enough nice things about the app and the company. Will definitely be posting more.

In case you missed it, Apptronica Magazine arrived and it's pretty damn amazing ...
It landed a few days ago and it's taken me a little while to catch up with it. It's a very significant step to have a publication dedicated to music making on iOS. From my perspective it's very strange considering that back in 2006 when Palm Sounds started there were no publications dedicated to mobile music of any kind and very few music making publications ever ran anything on mobile stuff.
So, it's a big thing to see Apptronica launch, and I wish Clif every success with it.
