Mo Power by freesoulsound with MultiTrack DAW

Mo Power by freesoulsound

From freesoul:

This was a quick track done on my iPad when I decided to test out MoDrum to see what kind of sequence I could throw together. After I got the drums arranged in Multitrack Daw I started on the other parts. I was starting to get a little frustrated as everything I was trying in Sunrizer,Nlog Pro,and even Bassline was not working! It took me all night to get the parts down to where I liked it. It wasn't until about the last 10 minutes of adding parts that the song finally started to click and work together. I wanted to extend the piece but I say that for all my songs :). I know in this dy with so much music and short attention spans that getting in and out sometimes works in the songs favor(plus it keeps 'em coming back to re-listen). Thanks to Finger for Bassline/MoDrum on this track, along with Beep Street and Rolff for their great synth applications Sunrizer and Nlog Pro....am I leaving anyone out....oh yeah! Multitrack Daw because without that app I wouldn't be making these songs and you,the listener, wouldn't get to hear them in part to the fantastic Soundcloud uploading capabilities. From finger to screen to ears as fast as we create them. Thanks for listening and as always, learn and play, learn and play(spend some money while your at it) Later freesoul :)

don't get all worked up over an opinion. If thats your vibe(sound) then embrace it- the struggles of creativity are not meant to be shared.

I don't understand the first anonymous post. Is that supposed to be a slam against me or what?

Maybe I should mention that I am not a keyboard player and I basically started making music(not cutting loops)about 2 months ago. I was mearly sharing that I personally couldn't come up with a "riff" last night while I was making the track.

Perhaps you might find one of my other songs more appealing or perhaps if you would post a link to your music then I could listen to your music and in return get inspired.

I didn't think the song was that bad compared to half the stuff I listen to on soundcloud I thought it was alright.

Not a blow toward the apps I used more to open up to show that I myself am a struggling artist trying to find my "voice". I have never played a keyboard before i started uploading music to soundcloud which you can look to see has not been that long I'm a pretty open person and I tell it like it is so if I say I was having creative issue then that's just me. I'm not going to say anything but what's on my mind. I was hoping that my words would come across as inspiring to other musicians using the iPad to show that creativity is premium so when you have it take advantage.

I hear you. I just don't understand how someone can jump in and make claims without he/she themselves backing it up.
I don't know if that person even makes or attempts to make music at all.
That's a pretty harsh statement to say concerning someones musical creation. I don't think I've ever had the balls to tell someone on soundcloud that their music sucks! Generally there is something positive to be said about any creative expression when it comes to music and for a person to say something like that makes me think they were just saying it to try and get a reaction. I've complimented the worst song I've ever heard with,"at least he tried". Maybe that's just me,the way I was raised.

That's the Internet for you. Entertainment :)

People will always push their negativity on you. Though, if you don't want to hear those kinds of folks, It's usually best to not publicly share works in progress in my opinion. . Unless you are ok with and prepared to hear brutal opinions publicly? They will crawl out of the woodwork to poke at errors, or lousy parts of a track with enthusiasm. .I prefer to polish up every single note in my compositions before allowing all to hear it.

Yeah..I'm still here...

I run a small record label here in Los Angeles. I've been watching the so called "iOS" music scene. I have never responded before to comment threads, but you're posting very mediocre tunes. I'm not hearing any depth, separation or sonic quality. Believe it or not I mean this as a positive critique. like the other guy (or gal?) wisely said that's what you'll hear when posting unfinished work. If you want to make a good impression and be taken seriously, only post your very best finished work publicly. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression. Or I could be wrong and maybe you're just making music for fun? In that case no need to care about anything anyone says including me. I'm just trying to help. You do what's right for you.

Thanks Rafeal that's pretty much how I see it.

To me iOS/iPad music making is more a community thing to me. I want to share my process and tell others what apps I'm using for the same reason I go to YouTube to watch hundreds of other musicians doing their thing.

Since I don't have the right equipment to do video tutorials on making these songs I do a simple write up. I've had people ask me to give credit where credit is due to the developers apps that I use.

Bottom line is yes your right I shouldn't listen to anyone as long as the music I make is original and I know my effort went into it. Yes it doesn't matter what process I went through but for the other musicians out there that like to learn and figure stuff out it might just be alright.

Making music on the iPad only is a whole different game. I took on that challenge as a personal goal. So take that and put it in the poetry books. I'm out. See you on my next track. As long as you listen I guess you can say anything you want. Thanks for listening :)

Sorry to palmsounds for keeping a "twitter fight" going. It's just when nameless people talk like that it's akin to talking behind someone's back. (my #1 biggest pet peeve). If you can't hone up to your actions then they shouldn't be acted on. This is my life,my music is. I spend every waking minute thinking about melody or rhythms, lyrics,or guitar parts. I am about as passionate as they come so it drills to the core of who I am when this kind of thing happens. I'm a teacher by nature, friendly, and honest. When people speak to me out of smite just to make themselves feel more powerful then that's when I draw the line.

Yes I've taken it to heart and too far so this will be the end of it for me. Until next time....I hope my next track gets this much attention ;)

freesoul, just do you. Don't pay attention to the anonymous A hole and the want to be small studio exec. who "has been watching the so called iOS music scene." Anyone with a keyboard and access to the internet can be an internet bully. Also keep in mind that some people are pissed that aspiring artist are turning to iPads to make demo tracks rather than heading to studios and dropping ungodly amounts of cash and time to get pretty much the same results.

Theres always going to be someone who HATEs your music! And it's ok, people have opinions, you just have to say fuck em. If you keep getting as emotionally affected by relatively benign comments like this, you aren't going to last the year! Keep practicing and next year at this time you may be agreeing with the not other anonymous lol. Just, er, keep on keepin on lol. Oh and drugs, take lots and lots of drugs!
