Midi Sync?

Tom TM said...

Yes, a very nice upgrade to the GUI, and also nice to see some proper Apple GUI guidelines being adhered to there, but like what Matt says, what about MIDI sync, or virtual midi?

I'm also rather fed up with subtractive synthesis- its so boring! Can we not have a simple 2 op FM unit, or Casio's PD, or some Additive options? Maybe making techno has become like making Jazz? You MUST use a saxophone or a double bass and nothing else?

Lol, touché Tom TM! Nice one

m always looking for a way to use my iPad in the studio.

not having midi or midi sync with sequencer apps puts one big stop on that.

Where is MIDI..?!

Anonymous said...

Wist is a looser. where is MIDI sync support?!

Anonymous said...

I don't have 2 iPads...
Can we have MIDI please....

I've been looking forward to this coming and it looks like a really good update. Can't wait to get home and have a go.Thanks pulse code!!ACP is going to be great

I love this app and its great value for money and the devs have backed up their promises!

so why are people being so negative about the lack of midi??

just enjoy what it is and what it does

"Can we not have a simple 2 op FM unit, or Casio's PD, or some Additive options? "

Has Apple approved it? You know you can't create anything in IOS unless Apple has approved it.

Just kidding :D

Good God! Every comment about every app will soon be "Where's the MIDI?" wah wah wah. I want MIDI features for my 69 pence (or applicable currency). Not everything needs to have MIDI, or Virtual MIDI (which didn't even exist a month ago!). We are all spoilt, greedy children. I do agree about some different types of synthesis though, that's a good point. Just make sure it has both MIDI sync, and Virtual MIDI though, for God's sake! Lol.

@ Anon...
Virtual Midi? Wah wah wah??

What r u on about??!

VM is a standard which devs here are trying to set! Get a grip man!

Tom TM said...

PS- what's wrong with being spoilt? Why not? The technology is there isn't it? Give it to us!!!!

@Tom
"The technology is there isn't it? Give it to us!!!!"

Yeah, GIVE US THAT DAMN FILESYSTEM AND PLUGIN SYSTEM!!!

APPLE, STOP IMPOSING IDIOTIC RESTRICTIONS ON YOUR DEVICES AND LET US USE THEM LIKE THE COMPUTERS THAT THEY ARE!!

yeah, that will surely work :D

Tom TM said...

You can have a file system if you jailbreak.

The existing technology already works though without a jailbreak :)

The technology is already there, and Apple are happy with it (afaik). If you don't like the lack of a file system- there is always your Windose tablet! ;) :p

@Tom TM
Just because something is a 'standard', it doesn't mean that everything has to have it. Condescend much?

I remember a time when people always would ask
where is the audio copy/paste ?

Tom TM said...

Isn't that a definition of "a standard"?

Baltan's right. We now take Copy/Paste for granted. But the technology wasn't there before. Now it is. And Palm Sounds and the devs at this blog are at the cutting edge. Software will be judged by whether or not these tools are included.

Well I appreciate everything Pulse Cose have done with this app. I love virtual midi and applaud Nlog et al for pushing the boundaries but that doesn't mean that everything else is rubbish.
Great dev work. Well done and thanks!

@Tom
"You can have a file system if you jailbreak."

Yes "I" can have the file system, but apps still can't.

That's the problem.

Beatmaker can't see the sound library I built for NanoStudio, and vice versa. And there is no way I can transfer patches or tracks I made to another app.

If it wasn't for ACP, there would be absolutely no way to transfer stuff between apps, but ACP has a lot of shortcomings, it can't multitrack audio/copy, or midi/piano roll/copy. Its still very limiting.

"If you don't like the lack of a file system- there is always your Windose tablet! ;) "

Yes, Fruityloops, Kontakt, Cubase and Live are better than anything on IOS, and this is why I bought a "Windoze" tablet and its fantastic.. heck even just Fruityloops would be better than anything IOS.

But I'd love to see IOS evolving into something that can support those software, and the musicians who loves them.

But right now, IOS is only good for live instruments like SynthX or Mugician.

"We now take Copy/Paste for granted. But the technology wasn't there before. Now it is."

Copy/Paste has been availabe since the beginning of computing. Now it is on IOS because a third party developer has implemented a method to do it.

There I fixed it for you.

Jake said...

Yeah... Copy/Paste has been available everywhere, on PalmOS, WindowsMobile, BlackberryOS, Symbian, etc.. but on Apple's platform it took a courageous third party developer.

I'm saying "courageous" because I feel someday Apple will catch on, implement something similar, and then kick out ACP from IOS.

Oh yeah.. RIP IOlibrary.

When will it be out?

@Anon...

"There I fixed it for you."

LOL! I'm completely bamboozled by some of the obvious tripe you come out with dude. I mean you no disrespect, but you troll around this blog, never revealing your true identity (why ever not??), and you take us all for kids who have only just worked out what a frying pan is for!

I mean seriously man, do you think I was born last November?!?

BTW- a bit of trivia- and I know this will get right on your tits... "copy/paste" (even if it isn't audio copy paste- which is what I was referring to), was originally an Apple thing! So was "Cut"! There put that in your pedantic pipe and smoke it! LOL!

...but then you'll probably correct me by saying it was a Xerox PARC thing, so we'll all go round in circles again....! ;) :D

Hmm.. maybe you should put less stuff in your pipe or stop smoking entirely. You don't even look good trying to imply Apple invented everything.

1960s - QED editor
1974 - Xerox PARC
1981 - Apple Lisa

Before computing, it was scissor and glue.

There, I fixed it for you...

LAWL!! :D

Yep! Just as I thought..... round and round and round and........

"Before computing, it was scissor and glue."

Scissors....Glue....??? Dude! Getaway! You don't say!!?

But wot about rock, paper, scissors....? Oh yeah, my bad. That's a game......

"1960s - QED editor

You forgot something...

The Abacus...

about 3000+ BC etc....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abacus

...and then before that... :?

I'm sure Copy/Paste was used by God during the Big Bang? I mean, he would have been dumb not to use and at least patent a technology that heavens forbid, Steve Jobs would have blatantly ripped off 13.7 billion years later? Maybe God was a dude who preferred Linux, and wanted to bring down the New World Order by giving away planets and the cosmos through the Creative Commons Licence??

God....

This update looks great! There was a lot of speculation about whether Pulse Code would continue to support the app, but it looks like they are making some impressive strides here.

Also LOL @ the comments here. This update looks like it could usurp technoBox2's spot as the communities favorite little techno studio app, and you guys are going off on all kinds of weird tangents. Sure MIDI sync would be great, but let's be happy with what we're getting here!
