I've asked yamaha and they said it was Core Midi compliant so there would't be any problem to use it as a Wifi Controller for your DAW. It's priced reasonably, I'll get it just fot the arpeggiator, looks nice.

About 5 years ago I bought the yamaha kx series of midi USB controller. The co triller has these same exact arp settings.
Let me be the first to tell you that these are powerful arpeggios guys. These are not your basic up and down one or more octave arpeggios. These are complex song patterns that can be used to make complete songs using one finger. If you missed your chance to buy a kx controller then this will be a great sub.
I find using my kx through the CCK into GB can produce some amazing sounds using any of the 350 arpeggios. The great thing about GB iPad is the midi mapping is pretty spot on. So using the drum percussion(dr. Pc) arp nets some great response. If you have wanted the power of a motif workstation but are dead poor then this will give you a taste.
I am not a salesman,not a developer,I am just a user that is so happy with that one (KX) controller that seems to be way underrated I sometimes get excited to the point that I want many more people to see what I am talking about.

no, you cannot use it as a wifi controller. wifi works only with a yamaha motif. i bought and test with it my ipad and my macbook. but there's a wifi connection between these two is not possible (like in pianist pro or something)
So does this work w/ the iPad CCK to a daw on the laptop or is this just for the yamaha keyboards. Not looking for a wifi midi controller but am out of town for the summer and could really use this w/ CCK.

Andreas you must be doing something wrong because it works just fine, not only with the Motif series but as a standalone MIDI controller via wifi (CoreMidi). Freesoulvw is right, the arpeggiator is outstanding with hundreds of complex patterns divided in styles which you can alter in various ways. You can't make your own styles as far as I see but the selection is so big that it's hard not to find something that suits you. Best keyboard Midi controller app for the iPad so far in my opinion.
is there a description for the wifi connection anywhere? in "pianist pro" it is totaly easy, i create a mac netowork midi connection, enter the ip-adress an the port in the app and that's it.
i think, if the wifi connection with my mac will be working, the yamaha app could be the best midi-controller app
It's pretty much straightforward, it works like TouchOSC and the rest of the apps. You make a new session in the Audio/Midi network (MIDI window pane) and connect your iPad to the session. In the Yamaha app you can select in the preferences if you prefer Wifi or USB, so you select Wifi and your mac as a target in "wifi MIDI port". Then fire up Garageband or Logic and that's it.
am i right in thinking the arp cant be triggered from external midi ?
@autoy: and this works for you? have you tried this by yourself? because for me it dosn't work. my connection to my mac is ok (as i said before, for my other apps like the piano pro i have no problems)
but only in this yamaha app it doesn't work... in the yamaha app i see always "not found" in the wifi section

@anonymous not only I can confirm it's working by myself, but also Yamaha have confirmed it to me in an email where they kindly detailed the whole setup process. Check your network settings and you CoreMidi sessions, it does fine.
