I know some people (trolls IMO) have been slagging this app off, but the fact is that FL studio has been the bastion of bedroom producers for years, and frankly I predict FL Studio Mobile will have the same impact.

I'm very much looking forward to it.

But.....

When.....?

Back in the year 2000 is when I first got my hands on fruity loops. It was my first time ever working in a step sequencer and I remember staying up all night for months making great music. It never surprised me how easy it was to create good sounding music that would turn into greatness by just spending more time on the tracks.

FL mobile can be summed up in one word 'juicy'. Every sound I have heard from these demos, the first word that pops in my head is just that, juicy. I can't wait for this app to release. I will buy it the first day. Can't wait.

I've never been the huge fan of NanoStudio like just about everyone else is and so far it's looking like FL Studio Mobile may win me over.

I'm one of your "trolls" that's been critiquing this app. The fact is, I'm a fan of flstudio on pc and I've used it for years myself - that's part of my criticism - I want to see a proper flstudio port and it's clear that this is a half-hearted effort.

If you've used Xewton at all, it's painfully obvious that this is Xewton + a step sequencer + fl format export options.

To be honest, I even like Xewton for what it is, but I don't like calling it flstudio.

@freesoulvw the demos so far seem to be very trivial step sequencing. Generic clap samples on the 2 and 4 don't strike me as juicy. Just my opninion.

I understand and feel your pain, to me this describe the entire IOS music app catalog (or most of it).

Yes there are nice apps and programs, but never anything like desktop software.

I can understand those mobile devices are not as powerful, but having used Bhajis loops for years (which was veeery close to desktop software), I can't understand why there is so little apps that are as good as Bhajis.. (yes, NS and BM are great too).

oh, and then there's this "no file system access" thing that just fucks up everything..

I guess its all about expectations.

(anon above)

@jg i'm not so pessimistic. For me the issue is more that indie devs have done too good a job that it makes image line's hire-the-xewton-dev-and-slap-our-name-on-his-app approach disheartening.

Anyway, I don't want to harp on it too much - as someone bought up earlier, all apps (even the not-so-great ones) advance the market in some small way. I mainly gripe because 1) I love flstudio PC and want to see something do it justice 2) it seems unfair that a half-assed but branded app will do well when more original apps without the name-recognition will probably get nowhere near the volume of customers.

Yeah I was really harsh in that comment. But I was really expecting IOS to be more like a complete OS (like Windows or OSX) and be able to use complex software (remember when Apple was saying that IOS was based on OSX, and software would be easy to convert?). Still I was charmed by many apps, hence why I stayed :)

I think a lot of companies like Image-Line (who makes FL studio) are just testing the market with smaller or simpler products, like the Xewton-Fl studio, or Loopmash by Steinberg.

Depending on their success, those companies might put more investments and resources to create more capable apps in the future.

That said, I have tryed FL Studio through a remote desktop app (Slashtop), and it was not bad at all, actually it was pretty good :) You should give it a try.

And about name recognition beating better products, .. well.. that happens everywhere in every markets sadly.
