Manomio who make the C64 emulator for the iPhone are to submit a version with C64 BASIC back in the app. I'm really hoping that this will get Apple approval!
I think Apple is still prohibiting apps that run external interpreted code, meaning you can't run BASIC programs that weren't included with the app itself. Maybe they could get around that by not being able to load/save programs?
Still have the original version which had Basic enabled. Haven't updated, just to have basic with me.
Of course there is already ample precedent for interpreters in the App store (Frotz, HP12c, Numbers for iPad etc.), so Apple is just being inconsistent to annoy people.
Really hope Apple is finally getting their act together here...
