AppleInsider has a long article on some of the features in iOS4.2 which you may not have heard of so far. One being that folders will take 20 apps as opposed to the 12 in the iPhone.

The only thing i'm not feeling is the Lock Screen Switch change to Mute. Now where going to have 2 hardware mute buttons. :(

Same feeling here, that button was really handy, its going to be fun to get through 3 menus just to stop the screen from rotating...
Its not the first time Apple does this, I'm still angry they removed the function to change the volume by double tapping the home button (its really slow to change the volume using the tiny side buttons.)
