Too bad it does not work with 1G touch models.
Or does it? I'm not quite ready to put down $20 to try it, even though I know I will be getting a new touch that will be compatible eventually

Looks nice. I'll wait for the versions with effects etc. I would hate to buy one version to then find out that the "upgrade" is actually a new app altogether as appears to have happened with the original RecTools.

Does it allow to inport wave files from the desktop computer into the Rectools app. I have songs that i would like to import and use the iphone to record and practice over.

I'm going to test out the desktop sync and see if it is possible to load a wave file in.

Do any of the iphone/ipod apps really record stereo? There is only one audio input. (see my blog about an audio input cable) I don't see how it's possible.

I bought it, I'm trying to figure it out. Without a help panel or manual, you're on your own. So far it's frozen on me several times. In the mixer mode, there are two hands that pop up where the arrows on each end are, when it's in wave mode. What they do, I haven't a clue. My only complaint is that the red colored background is really hard to see in low light. I will begin the search for a good mike, but already being 20 bucks into this, i hope this doesn't get to costly just to sit around and find out it really isn't efficient or doesn't work. You're probably better off using the 4 tracker from the app store until this one gets worked out. (check out the band on youtube called the 88's that recorded an entire single using just the iPhone and the 4tracker app). I'm using a first gen iPhone with updated 3.0 software. Also, I seemed to have fixed some of the lethargic-ness by rebooting my iPhone. Also don't forget to turn on your Airplane Mode when your recording.

John, I know what you mean about the colour scheme. I've found that quite difficult too. I'm hoping that the app will really get moving soon and get some new features, especially audio import which would make it an awesome tool to work with.

this app has redefined my concept of mobile recording. stunning. i'm using it with an alesis protrack (stereo mic / xlr inputs for iphone/ipod), iphone 3gs and a pair of "beats" headphones. love the red, night-friendly monochromatic interface and amazing drag-n-drop, responsive, workstation-like editing. looking forward to seeing the features evolve.

hi. got rectools few days ago. not so hard to figure out how it works, really. the only problem i encounter is :

the mix down all tracks doesn't work.

on iphone 3GS.

IF you want that app :
"four track" seems much better and more simple
and "multitrack" is more complete.

good luck.
