Stop frame comes to the Palm Platform

I know this is a little bit off topic, but it is sort of multi-media related. I've always been a fan of stop frame animation and filming, and this application from RNS:: does just that. Rapid Movie has 3 operating modes:

- Single Photo - captures still pictures just like the "Camera" application. This simple mode does not actually create movies or photo sequences, but one shot a time.
- Photo Series - takes pictures sequentially in equal intervals, and saves them as separate JPEG files. You can adjust the interval between consecutive shots.
- Moving Video - takes pictures sequentially in equal intervals, and saves them all as a single MOV file. You can adjust the interval between consecutive shots, as well as the playback rate.

It looks great for making little movies all that's missing is the ability to add a separate soundtrack.

I got an email from AntixLabs saying that they have no intention of developing a music application. Never mind.

Discovering Bhajis Live Mode

Sometimes it is really easy to ignore or underuse applications. I've always been a "never use the manual person" myself, But I've decided to try and get a better handle on what apps are actually capable of, and for starters I've been playing around with Bhajis in Live mode.


Live mode is a lot of fun even if you don't have a great deal of use for it at present. I can see it being really useful if you were performing with a PDA (please let me know if you have).


So far I've just been messing around with it to jump from one pattern section to another and then tweak controllers. I haven't got my head around the Warps feature as yet.


Anyway, I'm hoping to find lots of interesting stuff in applications that I didn't know was there before. If you have any favourite application features please let me know too.

Gear bags? How portable are you?

How do you carry your PDA?

- Pocket?
- Bag?
- Backpack with loads of other stuff?
- Something else?

I've been using a rucksack / backpack for ages now, but I've had replace it due to wear and tear. I'm replacing it with another backpack type bag, but I'd like to hear from anyone who uses any other, less conventional methods for carrying your gear.

ranDRUM documentation

I've had a few comments such as:

A kind of lowly cousin to the likes of AxisPad and Theremini. The kind of relative the other applications don't own up to having, and always look down on!



Now, neither of these are really going to set the world on fire I know, but they are a slow process of me getting to grips with making little applications, and one day maybe one of these will be worth having.

Anyway, these will be available on Palmgear just as soon as those lovely people agree that that can be there. I shall post the URLs soon.

TrakAx Mobile

Every now and then you find something that is really interesting and worth watching. I stumbled over this today and it looks amazing. I can't wait to try it out as soon as it comes out, and as it retails at only $24.95 I don't think I can argue with that.

Here's their video too. I shall keep an eye on them and post again when the software is available.

iPhone 3rd party applications (again)

More rmours about possible 3rd party development from MacRumors. It would be nice to think that we might get something in the end. Although, if, as this article suggests, 3rd party applications are restricted to "big" developers and software houses then perhaps we won't see the diversity of applications that we have for Palm or Windows Mobile, and that really would mean no fun at all.

I found this article today, and I have to say I agree with it. I still can't see why we can't have real 3rd party applications on the iPhone.
