The latest app has arrived from one of my favourite developers. Elsa is here!
Elsa is a retro style sampling keyboard with tempo based looping. Record, save, load, reverse samples with a multi octave on screen keyboard or plug in your core midi device of choice, soft- or hardware. Elsa comes with three built in effects, a reverb, a resonant low pass filter and a frequency/bit crush. Samples are looped in three different modes, one off, forward and/or forward-reverse. The start and end of playback also comes in three modes, one set of start and stop for all, one set per note and/or one set per octave, allowing for many different types of samples. Additionally at playback time, sample length can also be controlled by a set of sample dividers, 1-8.

SpheroSampler arrives for iPad (but it doesn't seem to be anything to do with Sphero)
Seems to be a simple idea. From the picture it reminds me of The Strange Agency's Donut. Here's the app's description:

iterator for iPad arrives
Just to remind you, this app was originally a DS home brew application called DS repeater. It's one of only a few that have made the jump from DS to iOS, which is a shame. Still, here it is, and here's what it has to say about itself:

New Sunvox beta released
A new beta for Sunvox is released for desktop and Windows Mobile / Palm OS (I'm just really pleased that these are still supported). So my guess is that this is what to expect for the next iOS version too.

SoundMashine universal arrives
Another new app today. Looks quite interesting so I might give it a go. Here's the description:
SoundMashine is a granular synthesis based sound sampling and sequencing instrument.
Fully utilising touch gestures to provide a fast and easy to use compositional tool.
The app records sound using the devices built-in microphone, then divides the sound into slices which are then automatically assigned to each of the 16 screen tiles.
Each tile has its own set of parameters allowing you to adjust window size ,playback rate, pitch, feedback, delay and delay modulation, all of which are easily set by the swipe of a finger. Each parameter listed can also be randomised between a set of assignable values.
Using the sequencer function patterns of tiles can be recorded and played back at different speeds, again using simple touch gestures.
With its flexibility for working with sound at different pitches, rates and sequencer speeds, SoundMashine lends itself well to a variety of compositional paradigms, from beat based through to drone or noise based music forms.
