Have your say: Is Moog right to charge for MIDI out?

There have been quite a few posts around the mobile music world about Moog's decision to charge for MIDI out via an IAP. Overall I think that this hasn't been well received to date, and it does remind me that another developer did this some time ago and received similar feedback.

But it makes me wonder what is and is not an acceptable IAP? Perhaps that's the better question.

What do you think?

Charging for bug fixes: won't work in a competitive market, which this is.

Charging for new functions: it depends on what you're charging, what you're giving them, and what your customers have already paid.

I think Moog's app pricing has been reasonable so far: they've put all of their apps on sale more than once, and charging a little for MIDI out will help them improve the whole product.
