I said that because its the Mugician guy who did this app (Rob Fielding).
This kind of interface is kinda semi-traditional. Its like a bunch of piano stacked one on top of the other, allowing to have a great range of notes in a small space. But also its like a guitar neck, if you know how to make a scale on a guitar it works the same in Mugician.
Every synths should have an interface like this, and I'm so glad SynthX has it too :)
