Yeah, unfortunately I have to agree...
What we have here is yet another example of fantastic app that fails in sound department. Factory presets are really terrible and what's even worse is the fact that keyboard is permanently set to 2 octaves - no transposing is possible!
I am really surprised that no one have picked on that yet...
Oh well, maybe version 1.1 will correct that, but what about the sound set?!

I have to admit that the sound pallette is what keeps me from going back to this program. Inspiring sounds are key, and they are lacking here big time.

I have also noticed that the whole system is seriously CPU hungry, even on my iPad 2, causing it to choke before I even get a halfway decent setup going.

I hate to whine about any musical tools, being they all seem to have their place, but this one could be so much better than it is presently.

The base sound set is not impressive however as routing and automation are simple and creative you can make some interesting stuff.

It's a bit buggy just now and whilst the hands on automation is good it needs some sort of control automation to do the job of LFO's and envelopes. Also some more simple effects and instruments, subtractive synth and distortion unit as a minimum, would be nice.

I've come back to it a lot since release even although I've got much more polished Apps to work with, so there must be something about it..

What sort of payola did these guys engage in to get the amount of coverage that they're getting? It's a cool concept for an app, but nobody reacted to BM2 or Nano with this level of breathless coverage and they're way advanced by comparison. Even Dingsaller is about as cool.

I think the concept of what it can do gets it coverage. I agree that the sounds need to be better. But the good thing is that other developers can come onboard

Tabletop makes me dream about having a real modular host with VST/AU plugins. Tabletop itself is not bad, but it would be so much better if we could load apps or plugins as modules.

Since the first iphone I've been wondering when a true music host would be available because it was technically possible.

Little did I know that the restriction Apple imposes in IOS made something like this impossible...

I'll say it, too. The sounds are awful. And the filters & effects don't give enough flexibility yet to really make any *significant* difference to them. It's a great concept, and I will continue to monitor the changes they make, but for now it's probably going to sit unused on my iPad for a while.

I want share a well kept secret with you guys because you are my palmsounds friends..

These sounds are horrible.

Just wanted to get you up to speed ;)

Is it that hard to set up a sample imort?

Once again the age old solution comes into play.
1. Jailbreak
2. Get iFile
3. Move your samples into the correct tabletop directory
4. Jam out with good sounds

Or
Use iphone explorer to drag n drop samples from your computer.

I love the idea of being able to import other apps as nodes. Even the ability to import Retronyms' own synth app would be a good start, since there are loads of things you can tweak in there (provided you have the IAP)

I am a bit disapointed that Verve doesn't work so well on the iPad 1, since I have more studio apps that I can count on one hand, all of whom are capable of processing serious reverb without degrading the sound quality.

Still, we got sample import in FL Studio Mobile, so it's not like these issues are going to stay forever.

Crap, crap and crap again..!
Who the hell programmed these sounds to begin with?!,,,

"the ability to import Retronyms' own synth app would be a good start"

That would be really great, but its the kind of thing Apple said NO to.

Forcing apps in a sandboxing mode makes it impossible to happen.

And even if Apple changes their mind about that, it won't work with all the older apps that were programmed in sandboxing mode.
