I don't think it's "good or bad" ... it's just the course of life and change. Steve Jobs was an incredible visionary and I believe he has surrounded himself with like people ... all will be fine and we will miss Steve in the Keynote presentations because that is what we've come to expect but time will pass and Tim Cook will someday be the Steve Jobs to our children. Change is good but often hard to accept.
I think as a planet we've seen so much bad change for changes sake, that we're more likely to bemoan this resignation, but he's not gone from the company entirely, he's still the chairman of the board.
I guess the question is will the people that Steve has surrounded himself with (as Marlene put it) still be able to deliver products with that same level of whatever we have come to expect from Jobs' Apple without him.
Also, will he be at the event next month? It would be nice to see him make some sort of speech to the general public.
It's true. But Steve still stays on as a member on the board. Apple have pretty much been running without him for months now, so I don't think much will change. In fact they'll probably get better. There's rumour of a iOS/OSX tablet in the works. :)

Well .... I can't imagine that Reuters would get it wrong and I think most of us knew it was coming but it's still a shock.
