Playing with DrumTrack8
Some days it is all too easy to focus in on the newest apps and forget stuff that is still excellent but you just haven't used in a while. So I'm taking some time each day to revisit some apps on my iPhone or iPad that I haven't started up in a while (or at least that's my intention).
So today I went back to DrumTrack8 which is an excellent drum machine. In fact, I'd forgotten just how good it was and how many features it has and how versatile it is for creating patterns.
One thing that did come back to me was that the interface can seem a little confusing at first, but once you know your way around you can do a lot with this drum machine, and it has AudioCopy and Pasteboard support too.
I even found that I had a half finished little pattern sequence sitting in there that I'd forgotten about completely.
I'm not sure if we'll see another update to this app, but as it is it's a great drum machine that has a lot to offer. I shall be copying patterns out of it for use in Looptastic very soon.

The creators of this app were considering real time pads for creating patterns, which is the only thing Drumtrack8 is lacking to me. But they sadly seem to have focussed on the iPad at that time. I really like this app though, copy/paste is really cool to have and It's great to use it with fourtracks (to equalize, compress...) and then to Thumbjam or Ampkit in my case.
